For the purposes of this discussion:

Champagne is a sparkling wine.

A sparkling wine is not Champagne unless it is produced exclusively within the Champagne region of France, from which it takes its name.

Espumante, Cava, Asti, Sekt, Mousseux, "Crémant" and other regional varieties of sparkling wine are not champagne.

Now... what are your favorite Champagne vintages - for everyday use, special occasions, etc.

I don't really drink (much) but the other person who lives here loves champagne. For "celebration" (I guess) or to just take out and show people and talk about it, we have a 1966 dom perignon brut and some krug something or another that I can't find to tell you the exact name because it's dark and there's so much stuff in there. Apparently the krug one is a prized posession. I have no clue if either good or not because I was told I'm not allowed to open them just because I "feel like it". Being told not to open them really makes me want to open them even if I'm not really a drinker. I've been thinking about opening them since they appeared. I guess I celebrate with the cheap dom and cristal that's in there.
