Hi Everyone,

My question is about number 20 on the DS-156 form. It asks for the name and Address of Present Employer or School and also 21 present occupation. My fiancée, arrived back in Brazil after her j1 visa expired last February. We initially planned on her coming back here as soon as possible but her mom was diagnosed with cancer, and she stayed at home to take care of her.

She was a student before she came to the U.S., and while she was here, but since she's been back to Brazil she hasn't been registered for any classes.

Jump ahead to now, and she has her interview coming up on the 18th of this month. We want to know if it will look back if she puts NONE on her current occupation. In my mind she is a student that has been unable to study.. but I think she is right in insisting that we put none there since she hasn't been able to study in a year. Will putting none there have any negative impact during the interview process?

Thanks,

Charles
