This is the NVC flowchart. Probably the best way to "speed things up" is to study it and and start gathering the documents the NVC will require. That way, when the NVC requests the documents, you will have them ready to go.

You can learn more about the NVC from their official site.

Thanks for the help! But one question, I noticed everyone says "passport". Does that mean I need to take mine or the beneficiary HAS to have one? My husband (beneficiary) never had a passport only i (petitioner) have one.

I /was/ going to say the beneficiary /has/ to have a passport, but y'know, I don't really know. I would assume so, as I'm not sure how he would be able to get into the US (or any other country) without one.

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.

the beneficiary should have his passport at this time because you will be submitting the copy of the biographic page of his passport at the NVC stage..advise him to get one now..

Hey everyone, another question, I heard something about that we need to take bills, letters, etc. where it shows both of our names to the interview. I even saw something about taking emails or love letters to prove were really married or "in love". (L) Can you guys give me any examples of what you took? Im not sure what to take!! Help, please!!

P.S- how long did it take you guys to get an appointment at the consulate once the NVC recieved your case? Just curious!

Chillax!

There's nothing wrong with yer English, if that's what ya meant (by language). You weren't born in the US, so therefore, yer English wouldn't be as good as the US President's.

Follow all the above posters and you'll be fine.

Most of the documents asked for are in spanish, does he need the originals AND translations? Do they have to be apostilled or can be translated by anyone?

Also, who will ask for these documents?

The NVC should have your case by now. Call them and a machine will answer and just follow the choices to enter your Case number from immigration. Then it will tell you if they either have your case or not. If they do they will give you the new case number from the NVC and tell you when they sent out the the bill. But im pretty sure they have it by now. And honestly i didnt wait 90 days to call. I waited a week after it was approved!! So go for it!
