I said back then I would never bother to try to even have a bit of fun here because there are so many people who feel the need to make a big argument out everything ...

If anyone is seriously interested in a forum for this sort of thing...free from moderation or the need to "be nice"...... I can set one up. I have a co-located server, tons of space, and plenty of domain names. I also don't use cheesy "on-line only" message boards - those with advertising.

If enough people are interested, and it would draw some of the "#######" off of VJ, I'm more than willing to do it.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Instead of making a separate forum for a particular topic, maybe we could benefit from a separate forum with looser guidelines and a concurrent tightening down of this Off Topic forum to prohibit more forms of aggressive speech.

I have a problem with a new forum for a particular topic because what happens when we get back to illegal immigration and a certain subset of people don't like the hostilities resulting from that? Another forum?

I didn't mean for a single specific topic, but for general discussion areas such as religion and politics that alienate or put off some of the newer members who might want to use O/T, for example, as a means of getting to know other without being alienated either by the topic or being intimidated by other posters.

With regards to the muslim threads in particular, its fairly obvious to me how someone of that persuasion, for instance, might feel unwelcome in the forum entirely, or else ends up responding to threads that they otherwise would not (as Chas said - he considers religion and politics to be 'private') in order to defend their position. Not to mention the tendency of late to adopt a "** you" attitude towards the topic to begin with, that seems to serve the sole purpose of fostering argument and insult rather than a constructive debate.

As I said, I've seen similar approach taken on other forums and it seems to work pretty well. Don't see the problem to be honest. Its not like anyone's suggesting stopping people from discussing what they want on the forum - just putting it in a dedicated place that keeps it separate from other members who don't want to be exposed to it.

Think of it like smoking in a restaurant - it might be your right, but every other ####### has to suffer for your habit.

interview: SEOUL

MArch 21st , 2005AR for special security clearance,washington

May 18th tranfer case from Seoul to Islammabad

June 21st security clearance done

June 28th online at the embassy in Islamabad

waiting for paper transfer and the good word

OCTOBER 14TH 2005 Interview Number 2: ISLAMABAD, PK

AR number 2 sent to DOS per Islamabad (2 cable request)

Nov 22 okd updated financial and etc proof accepted / embassy waiting for security cables

dec 20th one cable back waiting on 2nd

Jan 17th.. good word recieved. SECURITY CHECKS ALL CLEAR!!! DOS says embassy to contact him within two weeks!!!!!!

FEBRUARY 10th, 2006 VISA RECIEVED!!! They called him In via phone, stamped his passort and sent him on his way!!!

FEB 28th WELCOME HOME>>>POE CHICAGO did not even look at xray, few questions. one hour wait at Poe

march 10th marriage (nikkah at the islamic center)

aug 2006 AOS interview, cond 2 yr GC arrived september

June 2008 applied for removal of conditions on permant residency aka awaiting for 10 yr greencard

Dec 2008 10yr green card approved, no interview.

Nope, you could say whatever you wanted. The only stipulation would be that what was said there, stayed there..... no coming over to VJ and rehashing it. (That's for everyone, not you.)
