Now a serious question. Why is PP funded by our tax dollars?

Keep in mind, I fully support Planned Parenthood and the services they provide.

I recon because it is better (and less costly) to fund preventive health services rather than ending up reimbursing hospitals for the care they'd provide if that preventive care isn't available and/or accessible? Just a guess...

Wait, what? The Democrats have controlled Congress from Jan 2007 - Jan 2011. They were, as such, in charge to pass the budget for FY 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. That's 4 years and hence 4 budgets. Now, aside from 2011, out those 4 years, which other year did Congress fail to pass the budget? The 2010 budget passed in early 2009. The 2009 budget passed in mid 2008. The 2008 budget passed Congress in mid 2007.

As to your question who it is that wants to cut womens access to cancer screenings and other health services? The answer is simple: Those that are stubbornly trying to defund the organization that provides the services. That would be the GOP. To turn around and suggest that those that failed to introduce Single payer healthcare are at fault, that would be both the GOP and the Dems. Or have I missed where the GOP introduced a Single Payer initiative that the Dem majority voted down?

If I remember things correctly, the GOP did not propose much in the last legislative session and the first thing they did was pass a non-starter law in the House.

The dems were in charge of passing a 2011 budget last year and failed to do so. That is the one under discussion. They could have passed a budget that fully funded PP. They didn't. So now it is the GOP's fault that they are doing what their electorat wants them to do? Remember, elections have consequenses. The GOP is on record for not wanting PP. They are living up to the promises they made to the people that voted for them. They are doing their job. If the dems would have done their job last year we wouldn't be going through all this. That is the bottom line. You can try to pass the blame to the GOP if you want but that doesn't fly.

As for you point about SP. Really????? We all know that the GOP will never suggest a SP. That was why I for one voted for the dems in 2009. Because I knew the GOP wouldn't give us SP. Did I miss where the Dems introduced a single payer and the GOP blocked it? The dems had the golden chance. They had 2 years of controlling both houses and the white house. They could have passed anything they wanted to pass but instead they bickered among themselves. You can't blame that on the GOP.

They tried to propose a lot of things but were unable to do so because Pelosi and Reid prevented them from doing so. The non starter you talk about won passage in the house. This time the dems in the senate were the party of NO. It was a non starter only because of their partsanship.

Assuming that electoral results correlate directly to what an electorate wants is not a good idea.

Among several causal factors, yes. When you pinpoint things to such black and white cues, you lose. Even more so when you miss the entire sense of context behind the no.

Annoying, I know. Context is convenient only when it serves only one perspective sometimes.

In this case I have the context exactly right. Prove me wrong.

But that's not what you said and hence not what I responded to. You claimed that:

In the two years that the dems controlled the government they didn't pass a budget.

That's a demonstrably false statement in more than one way.

Indeed. And the election split the power in Congress between the Democrats and the Republicans. As such, the Republicans are in no position to dictate the tea party and religious nonsense on the nation. If the people would have wanted that, the people could have made it so. They didn't. Time to take a cue and understand that what the people want is for the parties to find common ground in the middle rather than running off into extremes. That message hasn't been received by the GOP and there will be a price to pay for that. Just ask Newt.

The same can be said for the dems. They act as if they still hold total power. It goes both ways.

Not really. The Dems have moved towards the middle in the negotiations reaching an agreement that exceeds Boehner's 32bn spending cut goal. The GOP hasn't moved an inch towards the middle but moved further right once they had the fiscal savings achieved. That dog don't hunt.

I am tired. You know I meant 2010.

Really? 2010? You mean to tell me that you actually voted for the Dems in 2010 in the hopes of getting Single Payer? Were you asleep in 2009 and early 2010? You ought catch up on the news a bit faster, buddy. :hehe:

Yeah, I screwed up again. 2008. I have an excuse though. I have pneumonia right now and the meds are wicked. Catch me when my head is clearer.

As for this so called movement that the dems are claiming. Do you realize how small 32 billion is compaired to the deficit? It is arguing over pennies. We should be cutting many hundreds of billions.

Pelosi and Reid control the media? They can prevent the GOP from putting forward and in front of the people their policy proposals? Really? I did not realize that the media in this country is controlled by the Speaker and the Majority Leader. If so, the current Speaker is doing a pizz poor job of taking advantage of that control that comes with his office. I see Congressional Democrats putting forth their ideas each and every freaking day. You better tell Boehner to to put a stop to that.
