It's not like women in Russia don't have a choice,

My wife, mid 30's, had owned up to the fact that now that she was fostering an infant, no Russian man would come within a kilometer of her, for a serious relationship. She had tried and all failed. And she is very attractive, cultured, intelligent and travelled.

I, being early 50's, had few choice choices to pick from (and I abhor the bar dating scene). The choices that presented themselves to me usually had much old baggage and had become man-haters, were not cultured/intelligent/travelled, were career women, had let their health fall by the wayside or were downright disgusting. No AW in my wife's range would even consider someone in my age, they usually chased after younger men. So it was with some whimsy that I dabbled on the Russian sites. After educating myself about the obvious scammers and agency tactics, I made my plan and worked my plan and immediately met and corresponded with very real and serious women. My wife and I kind of fell into each other and concurrently but exclusively decided that each other fit all the criteria and we agree to meet. We met and decided to pursue the K-1. During the long wait we continued to know each other and then she came here with the little one and they are still here and we are as happy as we can be.

What I was looking for and what I found was a best friend....and all that other stuff to boot. We are best friends. I have a lot of AW friends but none compare to all the qualities of my wife. We really are best friends.

Is your ten million limited to women of child-bearing age? Because there are a lot of old ladies round these parts and everyone knows about Russian male life expectancy.

I am actually more successful with Russian men than American ones because Russian ones seem to appreciate things like being well-read and cultured more. Even if they are more likely to be wasted while they are telling you how cool it is that your taste in literature is so excellent.

and as I was writing that post, a drunk Russian man came to my door and informed me he was sleeping in my room tonight.

Casanova-nik?

Hey I agree that a good man can easily find man can easily find an attractive, and young, woman in the FSU but the young ones never interested me too much (take me home to meet your Momma) and I was in my mid-upper 40s when living there. Nothing against you young gals, just not for me. Flattering to be sure, but in the long run I am better off with a hot woman closer to my own age. FSU women tend to put more emphasis on lasting qualities and qualities that will serve a family (children) well.

The average American man is a far better husband/father than the average FSU man (yes I know some are wonderful, etc., no need to go there)

But, hey, I imagine some mid-40s guy in a polyester leisure suit is going to be sitting alone at the cafe a lot.

You've got to have some enduring qualities to offer AND be a great lover. :P Given those things ...it is like a box of chocolates. The greatest aphrodisiac I have found for my FSU woman is my table saw.

When you come to Russia you feel like you are on a different planet when it comes to dating. I would catch younger, pretty women staring at me and openly flirting. Boy, what a difference! I could meet 3 or 4 a day there if I wanted and have a date with a different woman every day of the week. It was really drastically different. You go to clubs in Russia and it's usually about 4 women for every guy inside and the women generally are a lot better looking on average than here in the US.

I'm 22 and I was never interested in dating somebody more than 10 years older than me. I was also raised in the spirit that a well-mannered girl, who has at least a little bit self-respect would not hit on guys and "compete" for them. Guys should compete for her. Men are "hunters" anyway, so why would I want to take that away from them? :) And from what I've seen that's considered to be a norm. Girls, who hit on guys, follow them and do crazy stuff to attract a man aren't treated as decent girls, just cause the mindset of Russian people is more traditional and "the man is supposed to take the first step" (why do I have to explain that to you, btw?).

My fiance is just the best, so he won the competition for me. And there was no chance that he had any problem with women, cause he's the best and he's young, smart and YES he's hot (he's 25 now, he was 22 when we met).

My wife, mid 30's, had owned up to the fact that now that she was fostering an infant, no Russian man would come within a kilometer of her, for a serious relationship. She had tried and all failed. And she is very attractive, cultured, intelligent and travelled.

Everyone's experience is different. I know people, who were able to find their match when they were in their 30s or 40s in Russia... and had kids. My friend's mom, my mom's friend... actually - there was a story, when a guy, who have been in love with my mom for long-long time, came over to my grandma's when we were visiting, cause apparently somebody told him that my mom got divorced, so he hoped to win her heart. My dad was like "WHAT?"

Some people find their best friend in their country, some people go all the way accross the ocean... It's all good. As long as everybody is happy.

I'm just surprised that the guys really think that most RUB young girls are going to compete for them and be sincere

Well, yes, I did have 3 choices with local Tampa Bay women:

1. Younger, in their mid to late 20s overweight (90 to a 120 kilos)end generally very unattractive.

2. Late 20s to 40 women, 4 to 6 on the scale of 1 to 10 in terms of looks and who had 2 to 4 children.

3. women in their late 40s and early 50s. Some are decent looking but too old to start a family and have children.

I was single and looking for 2 years when I was 42 and 43. 178cm, 80kg worked out every day and did sports, fairly attractive (maybe a 6 or a 7 in the US? But definitely an 8 in the FSU! :) 0 I had my own nice home (all paid for), nice car, so no bum by any means. Very social, fun person with a good sense of humor, educated, worldly, honest and genuine. I don't know how to describe to you my "dating experience" during those 2 years other then "horrific", "disillusioning", "disappointing", "frustrating". One's self esteem falls sharply when you go through this experience for months and then years. In addition my social network was sizable. When I had a birthday party or any kind of party 30 or 40 people would show up. Some of my friends did try to set me up with the single women they knew, but all those women would fit into the 3 categories above.

It is also worth mentioning that Tampa Bay can be more challenging in terms of demographics for a single guy in his late 30s early 40s, compared to other areas of the USA because there are lots of retired, older people here. I once placed a fake woman's ad on CL in my area just to see what kind of response would a nice looking woman in her late 20s would get. 30 minutes after I placed the ad I had 200 responses, and by the end of the day there was a 1000...

A week later there was 2000 responses. So one week after placing a personals ad on CL in my area a nice looking girl would have a choice of 2000 bachelors! No wonder nicer looking women are extremely picky here!

I had much better rate of response from women in other areas, like the Midwest, New York, Texas. But every one of the women had their career and weren't willing to move. I didn't want to move either...

I'm not saying that there are no beautiful women here in the US, off course there are, but in Russia on average you see a lot more of them and another thing you do not see any terribly obese women like you see here in the US. Occasionally you will see a slightly overweight woman, but they are rare and 160-170 Lbs is considered overweight there. The first thing that strikes you as you land in the US after visiting Russia or Ukraine is how many horribly obese women are everywhere (men too, but not as many).

I know exactly what you mean! My experience has been very close to yours. Life becomes so much more interesting and rewarding when you expand your dating horizons to include the FSU!

Yup :)

Ona,

you are very young at 22, and so is your boyfriend at 25 yo. Your life experience is relatively limited, although you do sound like an intelligent, nice young lady. Let's talk about this in about 7-8 years if you are still single and living in Russia. At that point your opinion might be a bit different.

But just FYI: it is very different when you are young compared to when you are around 40 in regard to dating. I met my first wife (American girl) in college. I was 20 and she was 18 and we were married for 15 years. Did I mention that things are very different when a man in his early 40s tries to date in the USA? Women are extremely picky here, you really have no idea! I couldn't get a decent date for 2 years when I was single.

As soon as I went to Russia it all changed. I had unlimited choices there. Quite the opposite of the USA.

I don't plan on being single in 7-8 years :)

And maybe women in the US seem to be picky cause they already have a blue passport? I hate to admit it, but for some women it's a very important criteria when they are looking for a husband. It's not like I approve of it, but I have to admit that it's true.

My fiance has never had problems with women in the States. Actually I think he should start wearing nicab  cause women like him too much. I, in my turn, have never had problems with men in Russia.

It just happened that at some point we were both single and we met. But we both always had a choice. It's not like women in Russia don't have a choice, so they'll do their best to get some random guy's attention. Well, some women are like that, but some aren't.

When you are 40+ and have two sons, one about to enter college, we'll talk. What do you think the prospects are for a hot looking woman in her 40s with two children in Russia/Ukraine? I mean prospects for serious relationships, not just men that want to get in your panties and play around for a little while. What are the prospects for men that would not only accept that, but result in a net gain for your children?

A lot of the things we speak of generally do not apply to (and are not intended to apply to) people of undergraduate age. I mean, seriously, to jump in and say "that doesn't apply to teenagers" is really kind of redundant.

I said I know people, who were able to get married when they were in their 30s and 40s. They had kids and they got married to Russian men in Russia. I don't know about the prospects, but I know that it's quite possible.

Plus Eduard was saying that he was looking for a younger woman with no kids and it was easy in Russia, cause "in Russia man is the one, who chooses". That's not true and that was my point.

So if you're in the mood to argue with anybody, please don't argue with me, choose somebody else. Cause my point was clear and it DID concern what was written about younger women. And if you had paid more attention while reading the thread, you would've noticed that.

seriously, when young russian women became such an easy catch. I ve missed something , unless those are scammers, who would run away once they have what they wasted their times for. Russia is not a traditional Asia, where age difference isnt big deal and a man in the later years is discussed as a wise man rather than old. You wont really see Russian girl and Russian man living together, having 20 years difference, unless its a war or some disaster time. Dont be confused, thts not the case. If those are ready to have sexy times with you, Eduard, and those are like real young/no kids get ready your ca$h on table.

I am russian, turning 24yr, - my fiance is 28 yr.

It is fun to read all the generalities people post. There is truth to most of them, but when some say "This is a fact" and it is not backup up with references I get skeptical. Milushka, I dated a Russian women a few years ago when she was 26. She had lived with a Russian man(42) when she was 19 until she became pregnant, and he wanted her to abort or he would leave. She kept her boy and she never saw him again. There was no war or large disaster. She told me she liked older men. This happens everywhere, even the USA. I won't say it is the norm anywhere. And no she was not a scammer. Eduard does tend to overstate, since he seems to be pushing that site. But he does have some truth in there. But it is not as easy as he says either.

I think most of the men in VJ are like me, who were family men without a family. For various reasons we were not finding anyone in the USA and were lucky to find our match in RUB countries. Many of us are older, with some age difference in our brides. And no matter what you say it did not matter too much to the other partner! My wife is 23 years younger, and told me that is not normal in Ukraine. But I was the only one out of many responses who matched her. And I had been looking for a couple of years and do not agree with Eduard that it is easy, even with help. It takes work. The work does not stop after marriage either! For both partners.
