I did actually marry an American man. My visajourney ended a while ago when my relationship came to an end. But speaking of my ex, I was with him for him, not because he 'wasn't converted'.

I have dated a variety of American men, and all of them were different from one another. This is why I have such a hard time understanding your grouping all USW together. While I am sure there are those with 'entitlement issues', they're certainly not the majority.

Abandoning all fashion sense and pride in being a woman. Becoming dumpy looking, "empowered" on the wrong issues, generally unhappy with their already nice life and unsupportive of their husbands, male friends and co-workers. Also, they'll become envious of more attractive women and feel like the whole world is out to destroy them.

I actually don't know any women like that. In fact, I feel bad for those of you who have come in contact with this ugly, fat, obvious man hater, who is consumed by envy of more attractive women.

Is it so shocking that men, who are visual creatures, prefer women who keep in good shape, dress nicely, can walk in heels, and know how accentuate their features to maximize their prettiness quotient? It's a no-brainer to me. I'm a feminist, but I'm also a realist. In Russia, I'm practically chubby. When I go home, everyone asks me what my secret is for staying so thin and I'm nearly always the thinnest woman in a store/restaurant/whatever. Young American women do tend to be very lax with their appearance, and I say that as a young American women.

No, it's not shocking at all. In fact, I'd say it was more of a universal preference, as I wouldn't marry/date someone who was old/fat/dumpy looking.

So this is the consensus of what an American woman is? Dumpy, ill dressed, walks in flats, and can't accentuate their features to maximize their 'prettiness quotient'? Not to mention the man hating, envious woman who's paranoid that the world is out to get them?

Well, complaining can't be part of the conversion since you said Alla complained about aspects of there after she had been here for some time. I still postulate it's a personality difference you're seeing and that it's not related to culture. I've met a lot of the same personality across the world... entitlement rampant, resistant to change, demonization of other, etc. How it displays is shaped by society and culture-- but the root is very similar.

Issues like, "I don't need you to hold the door for me because I'm strong enough to do it myself" followed by "even though I'm wearing a low-cut shirt, don't look at my breasts while you talk to me."

The majority of women (yes, I said majority) in the US cannot properly handle their womanly attributes because their less attractive sisters have ensured they're no longer empowered to do so without being a #######, cocktease, etc. A woman cannot be taken seriously if she's attractive.

I don't get what people are talking about as well... Being a Russian woman (half Ukrainian actually) I can say thet I've seen sooooo many extremely beautiful girls in the States (that's probably the point where I'm supposed to say that FSU women tend to check out other girls and that a lot of girls actually get dressed up not for men, but for women ).

I should say that in every country there are beautiful girls, average girls (i'm an average Russian girl actually), ugly girls... To each their own.

It's not related to culture, really. I grew up somewhere in between Russia and Ukraine (mostly Russia though), but Ukrainian people consider me Ukrainian, Russian people think I'm Russian... at the same time they all realise that I'm neither of them.. I have some traits of character that might be Western European or American, but definitely not Russian or even Ukrainian. That's just me. The same thing about my fiance - he's not that kind of American that most Russian people can think of. That's him. Me and him are both unique, so is everybody else. So what stereotyping is for? It's useless... 5 minutes before I met my fiance I had said that I would never date an American guy Oh well... at least I've learnt that you should "never say never"

Yanno slim, I wrote out this huge azzed reply to you, but then I thought better of it. People are going to believe what they believe, and nothing anyone says is going to change that.

But I will say this: American women are a lot of different things. Some are alike and some aren't. Some are ugly and some aren't. At times, women can be sexy, other times, professional , and should be treated accordingly. The one with the 'biggest t!ts' shouldn't 'win out' based on her cup size. There's a time and place for everything, and the evolved man knows which is which.

I'm not saying there aren't any man-hating ball busters who are consumed with jealousy. I guess they're out there, although I don't know any. Negative emotions are such a waste of time, and I for one cannot fathom going thru life not supporting your husband to the fullest. I don't envy anyone, because I'm pretty happy with the way my life is. Life's too short to spend it all pent up with all sorts of negative energy, so if I came across a person - woman or man - like that, I wouldn't waste my time getting to know them ((online, apparently, I am drawn to it like bees to honey).

But at the end of the day, no one's finding fault with anyone for finding his wife sexy. That's great. But she's not a piece of meat or a prized trophy. No matter what nation she hails from.

See, that's exactly my point. Here in the States we can't take an attractive woman seriously, especially if she's "putting it out there." We're so concerned with "respecting her for her intellect and abilities" and we're not even allowed to add in that extra "and she really takes care of herself." Like I said, I didn't make up those rules, you women did. I have no problem treating a woman as both sexy and professional - that's the way they should be!

I wholeheartedly agree. The problem is the evolved woman can't decide what that time and place is. She's allowed to "let her hair down" while out with the girls but has to be restrained and professional at the office. Hide those hips! Button that shirt! Don't wear those spikes!

whenever Alla goes for any kind of interview/application/business meeting, she hopes for a man. She can pretty much get a man to buy/hire/allow/approve anything. A woman. No way. We had a flat tire and she got a cop to drive her home 40 miles AND pcik up our son at basketball practice on the way! They left me for dead.

She has every intention of using her physical attractiveness to her advantage and she loves it if she can distract the man with her features (she can)

How is ANY different than using other qualities one has? I never figured that out. It is OK to use your brain, have a sales strategy (used to be called a "pitch") use your experience, even your physical strength to get jobs/sales/promotions, etc. But it is NOT OK to look hot doing it.
