New wind now costs the same as new coal—the tiebreaker is one of them kills you

The radical environmentalists at Bloomberg have declared that the world's best new wind projects now produce electricity that costs about the same as electricity produced from new coal-fired power plants.

A lot goes into these calculations, but here's the bottom line: wind costs $65 a megawatt-hour, while power from new coal-fired power plants costs about $68 an hour. Coal would be much cheaper if there were no environmental controls on it. So if you like asthma, poor air quality, and premature death, be sure to vote for whichever politicians are all about rolling back environmental controls.

Goooo energy diversity!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

All for different forms of energy (though Wind is the ugliest of them all and has more of an environmental impact when you look at the land masses it takes up and then the ugly factor as well)... However you might do well in posting an article from someone who has an unbiased view and doesn't have a lot of $$$ at stake in the 'wind energy' market..

just sayin...

The land masses and the ugly factor, eh? Yeah, coal mines are so tiny and such a pretty sight to boot.

Clearly, a windmill is a real eyesore compared to the pristine beauty of a coal-burning smoke stack...

of course what Steven doesn't show as usual is how big the damn wind mill fields are in comparison to a small coal plant....

Hey and at least the smoke coming up matches the clouds above! :P
