I'm sorry I should have clarified myself. I was talking about US Embassy's worldwide will be shutdown except for emergencies. Meaning no visas at those US Embassy's will be issued. They might get accepted here in the states through USCIS or NVC but everything at the US Embassy will be put on hold.

I am not sure about this. Looks like the FOX article is the latest and they may continue issuing visas. They may not chose to follow the protocol. It really depends on the 'essential' definition.

Every Embassy or Consulate will be shut down to issuing VISAS and INTERVIEWS during the shutdown. They are non-essential tasks. Unless it has to do with humanitarian needs as Clinton stated in the Fox article.

This has been stated in the State Department brief emailed and handed out to all State Department Staff on Thursday April 7th regarding operating procedures if a shut down is to occur. I have seen the brief as a family member of mine works for them. It's pretty clear to me and so is OPM's website (Office of Personnel Management).

You have confirmed my fears. Lets just hope and pray that they can get this sorted out tonight. Not just for people going through the immigration process, but for all American people who need the fragile economic recovery to continue.

Not a topic about filing an I-129F to USCIS.

Moving this to the embassy/consulate forum, which is where visas are issued.

Keep politics out of the thread, if you want to complain, do it in one of the threads already started in the Politics forum...

I am very fearful of the impending shutdown. My fiancée has her interview scheduled for the 13th. Right now she has nowhere to go but her hotel in Manila since due to personal reasons she can not go back to her home in Davao region. We are so screwed if this lasts any length of time and her interview gets bumped to a later date.

"With respect to immigrant visa (family, employment, etc.) cases pending at the National Visa Center (NVC), it is possible that they would continue to be processed as NVC’s staffing funding was under contract."

***I found this on a site called Capital Immigration Law Group LLC..dated today 04/08/2011****

dont know how accurate it is but gives me some hope:/

That's right. House Speaker John Boehner says Democratic and Republican negotiators reached a budget deal that will avoid a government shutdown. Boehner said the House will pass a short-term measure that will keep the government funded through the middle of next week, when a longer-term package is expected to be enacted. --CNN
