I-864- Do I include my assets?

My (now) spouse entered 1 month ago on a K-1 visa and we are now married and filing the AOS package. We are fortunate enough to have a very supportive family and our joint sponsor for the I-864 makes much more than the minimum requirement, so we do not need to include the sponsor's assets. I am, of course, also filling out an I-864 and I do not have enough income to meet the requirements. I do have significant assets in the form of stock in our family business, but they could not be easily converted into cash within one year.

My question is, should I include these assets as a way to make myself look better, even though they technically don't meet the specifications stated in the instructions? Or will including these somehow be detrimental to our case? I don't technically need to include them, as I do have a joint sponsor who exceeds those requirements. But I want to present myself well to the USCIS, and I feel like the assets would show that I'm trying to build an economic future for me and my family.

I know this might be nit-picking the details, but I really want to submit the best packet I possibly can. Any insight anyone could offer would really be appreciated.

It's just a matter of the I-864 being sufficient, like a Pass/Fail. They won't like you more or less if you have assets. I'd skip it and keep it simple. Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

It sounds like the family stock is a privately held asset and has no value anyway. If it isn't publicly traded it does not have a value except to a certain class of investors.

You do not need it as you are qualifying under the income of 5the joint sponsor. Only list assets when that is the basis of your meeting the requirements. They will only confuse the matter in your case.

Good luck.
