i have been here in the US for 3.5 years now on h1b visa. i was with my previous employer for 2.5 years and with my current employer for one year. being on h1b visa, technically i have only 1.5 year left before i either have to leave the country or get status adjustment. with my current employer starting my h1 filing all over for me, i now have the following concerns:

1. will my current employer be able to get my h1 status adjusted to at least pending with eb3 application in time in the next year?

2. how do i keep track of my employer's filing for the greencard? they may say that they are going ahead with it, but are actually not doing anything because of the hassle and costs involved. i fear that they could even just let my h1b status expire and let me go back home just so they can keep costs down. on the other hand, i also dont want to come across as nagging and overbearing to my employer.

i have only 1.5 year left, and if i go back home by then, i would be worthless there, even to my own family. i really need to be on permanent status here in the US. please help!
