I was wondering if any of you have gone through the process of petitioning for your child under the F2A category. I am asking from the perspective of a green card holder petitioning for unmarried kids under the age of 21.

Over the past couple of years of looking at the trends of the visa bulletin in the F2A category, I've seen slow movement, but I've also seen big JUMPS!

I know that the visa bulleting is unpredictable, but I see that dates reflect somewhat of a 3-4 year wait on average. Have any of you gone through this process as either the petitioner or petitionee? Also, how long was you wait?

I ask because I'm always reading/listening in on articles/shows that state that the average wait for a F2A, unmarried child by a green card holder is on average 1-1.5 years. I don't see this in the visa bulletin!

Any insight and experience will be greatly appreciated!

I say wait for an answer in about monday the 11th. The last quarter is rolling in and the waiting list is sure to jump. There isn't a prediction of dates as case types change based on the petitioner/child's age.

Did u sponsor someone? When?

Look at my timeline and my signature, I have one F2A awaiting a second interview. However some of the delays are from delayed correspondence between us and NVC (before I found VJ and realized that we did not have to wait for the paper mail to know the status of the case). Every case is different based on a lot of factors.

Goodluck with everything!

As a way of reply I can relate to you my daughter's status. Her priority date is Dec 2008. It became current on august 2010. So I started preparing her papers thru the NVC internet medium. I committed mistakes here. I paid the affidavit of support and processing fees one after the other because I have been waiting for either email or paper correspondence. I only completed her documents in November 2010. If I have done right her papers should have been completed by September. Anyway I was hoping that the interview would happen in December 2010. No schedule for interview came until the big retrogression came in January and February 2011 where the priority date became January 2007. So maybe my daughter will wAit another 1 year.

So to answer your query F2A visa processing is about 4 yrs from the date you filed your petition for your daughter. But don't sit on her documents.

I hope I answered your query.
