Hi all VJ ppl does anybody know about our british licence can we keep it and get the licence for that state ? or do we get a international licence for a year??????????????

Depends on the State you will be living in, but if you want to insure your car you will most likely need a US license. And because we drive on the other side of the road, you will be taking the theory and practical test again. In most States they will not let you do this untill you have EAD.

Like I say it varies State to State, but i'm sure more experienced members, that have gone through this, will be able to advise you more comprehensively than I.

An international driving permit gives you ZERO authority to drive. It is a translation book for licenses not written in the native language of where you will be driving. You might need one to go to France, but since the US and the UK share the same language (sort of), you won't need one.

Insurance varies by state and company. My husband was added to State Farm in Texas before he had a Texas license. Have your fiance/wife call her agent for the correct answer on insurance.
