Just for fun...when is the next time you're going "home" to Canada?

I'm hoping that my parents might come down to the Air Show in Jacksonville, NC because the Snowbirds will be showcased. I will hopefully be going back to Canada in the summer... maybe August. My husband will be deploying in late July and I think I'd like to visit friends and family during that time. Plus, It's freaking hot down here in the summer.

I crossed into Canada at the Peace Bridge yesterday. The officer was super friendly. Just wanted to know my status in the US and what I was bringing over. The border was moderately busy. I couldn't use my NEXUS pass, however, because I had my parents with me. They had come to visit for a week over Easter. Anyway, I used the NEXUS pass as my ID instead of my passport and GC. (Because they've asked to see my GC the last few times that I"ve visited and I'd only given them my passport.) Will use NEXUS on my way back in two weeks.

Last time I used my nexus pass they asked to see my green card and the border guy was super cranky!!!

OMG. The GC info is right there on the pass! They need to make up their minds. It's funny, because whenever I use my passport I get asked for my GC. But whenever I use my NEXUS pass they don't. Some consistency would be nice.

Sometimes it's just a power trip. I mean, I don't look like a flipping terrorist, but I guess they come in all shapes & sizes!!

All depends on the POE officer! Some just want to see the Green card, and some want to see the passport and greencard. Have a safe trip

At the land borders (before I got my NEXUS) I only had to ever show my GC. At the airport, my GC and my passport. Now I just use my NEXUS.

Canada asked for your US GC? Weird....I've never even been asked by the Canadian guys what my status is in the US....frankly - is it really any of their business - all they need to know is that I have a valid Canadian passport, right?

Next time I'm telling them I'm a fugitive lol

Yeah, the first time it really ticked me off because I had a really rude and power tripping officer who was an immigrant himself. (Indian accent.) He yelled at me (among other things) to "SHOW ME YOUR GREENCARD!!" I was like.... #######? You can't NOT let me in here. After the next few times of being asked for it it doesn't phase me anymore. I'm thinking it might, in part, be related to the types and amounts of duty free items. I believe someone posted an explanation on here somewhere, but I couldn't even begin to figure out how to do a search for it. lol

I love how when you hover your cursor over the forum link (at the bottom of the posts in between "Previous Topic" and "Next Topic") that the pop-up descriptor window says "Return to Canada". Sometimes I'm like "Oh, don't tempt me." If only it were that easy.

if you have a Greencard---you won't have a USA passport,lol Yes Cdn passport. I guess you could have a passport from another country!
