Ok well my fiance in ohio will be sending our k1 visa paperwork this week sometime to nebraska so we will be starting our journey soon. I just had a question I have mentioned this in other forums too but thought I would ask here. Although I am not there yet but its about the medical - I understand there are certain injections we are supposed to have. I just got my tetnus injection in november 2005 so I know I am ok with that. Im concerned about the MMR. I dont know if I have had the MMR injection. MY doctor doesnt have a record on my records with him but he thought I should have had it since I went to school here in the UK. I was born in Uganda and moved to the UK when I was age of 3 and im now 37 lol. I now I had the chicken pox when i was around 11 or so I dont know if I have had measles or mumps. I have been with this doctor since I was around 10 years old. Has anyone else been in this situation and what did you do? Will I have to have the MMR injection again to be sure? or is there a test that can be done to show that I have had the injection? if so can I have it done at my doctors?

I also have a question about depression. I have been suffering from depression for the last 4 years or so and am on anti depressants, and i get vertigo when I am really really stressed or tired, my doctor doesnt think I should mention this at the medical - but will it effect my chances of passing the medical? I dont think it is really depression my doctor and I talked about it and he seems to think it is really anxiety and the fact that I havent worked full time since sept 2000, and my self esteem and confidence has really been hit on. The only thing that makes me get through the day is knowing that I have someone who really loves me, but the sad thing is that he is all the way in AMerica and it gets so hard not seeing him although we talk every day. Most of my anxiety/depression is the fact that I cant be with my loved one :( I had no problems while I was there with him visiting in december - january. LOL I guess its all in the MIND!! lol

Anyways Id appreciate any input anyone has to this.

Thanking ya in advance - Lina (UKC)

You do not need evidence of the vacinations until AOS once you are in the USA. But, as you were born after 1956 you will need evidence of the MMR vacination at that time. If you have not got a doctors record, I think you will have to have the shot again, but make sure it is properly recorded!

In the medical they do ask a question about that. You will need to talk to the doctor at the medical about the exact situation. He then records it on the appropriate US form. Ask him...I asked him about the medical, you are paying for it!

Hi

Centralizing immunization records is something that was only introduced in the UK during the last 20 yrs. I was advised by my GP's surgery that those of us in our 30's and 40's will have no records of immunization other than those kept by our parents and wouldnt have had the MMR. So just go ahead an get the MMR and TD on the NHS. That's what i was advised to do.
