An off-topic first? Behaving like adults when tensions run high? Who'da thunk it? :P

Life's too short to remain upset. Besides, on any other day I'd probably have laughed at what Fuzzness said. Not his fault that he picked the wrong day.

Really sorry your trip didn't work out; hope you feel a bit better soon, and that somehow you'll get an opening in schedules/etc. to go yet this year before it gets too late. (F) M.

Well, of course! You're both Canadians:-) - the byword for polite behaviour, don't you know!

Ceriserose, I am sorry that you aren't able to make your trip as planned. I know the Prairies get rough winters early on, but October still has some possibilities. Are you sure something can't be worked out? Regardless, you have my sympathies and my understanding - I haven't been able to go home for over 2 years either and had hoped to make it for the end of September, but it doesn't look like that is happening either. Christmas also brings serious weather concerns for Ontario too so it may be 3 years before I see my family again. (((((((hugs to you))))))).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate the support. :)

Kathryn, I'm sorry it's been so long for you; I honestly don't know how you're doing it. I mean, I love it here with my husband, but the need to see family is so strong it's very difficult to ignore. I hope you can see yours soon. :)

I have drove From Victoria BC to Sk many times during the winter. Gone through some huge storms but made the trip. One has to ensure they have a plan, extra clothes, car is in top shape. Never really had any huge problems. Had to wait a few times on the side of a road, as the roads (trans Canada) was closed due to an avalanche!! One has to allow extra time, thats for sure. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
