Trip to Canada cancelled...*sigh*

Well we've been trying for the last few weekends to figure out a schedule that would get us to seeing my Grandparents. We've had so many conflicts and last minute issues that we've had to cancel yet again. We're pretty much out of time to go see them; where they live is typically not all that safe to travel between October and April, and due to our work schedules this coming weekend was basically it.

So that will be out until Spring. We might be able to make a quick one up to Vancouver during the winter, but few of my family live there so that won't help in the area of getting to see people.

This sucks, especially since if they hadn't screwed up my green card that was approved in April I would have had all summer to figure this out instead of getting it in late July and having little time to sort it out.

Anyway, just a minor whine. We'll do a trip in Spring and it'll be fine.

Bleh.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Thanks everyone. I'll live, just frustrated with things that spiral out of my control.

You'll just have to order your Tim's coffee online

I don't know if you're trying to be funny, but 1) Tim Horton's is not the big deal in the western provinces that it is in the eastern and a horrid Canadian stereotype that grates on me at the best of times, and 2) I'm upset about not being able to see my family, particularly my grandparents who haven't been well the past several months and in their 80's. I know that by choosing to move here I ran/run the risk of never seeing them alive again and most days I manage well, but today I'm not doing that very well. All I was looking for today was a place to put it. Please respect that and not minimize how enormously difficult this is for me.

Thank you.

i'm sorry. I didn't realize you had a problem with someone trying to cheer you up. My apologies, I'll never try that again.

I don't have a problem with someone trying to cheer me up. I'm not sure how you consider attempting to pacify my inability to see my family reduced to a cup of coffee as humor but I guess we're all different, huh?

The passive aggressive follow up to my polite request is also very helpful. Thanks for that as well.

Sorry the trip didn't work out. Pretty much every Cdn topic has a tims connection, so I don't think anyone was trying to be mean, people offer support through various means and topics and most relate Canada with Tims, even if you do not. if it wasn't such a big deal, there wouldn't be a Tims in aphganistan!! Hope your trip pans out.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Fair enough, I just didn't see the humor or relate how that was of any importance when I'd said my disappointment was in seeing family.

I guess I'm just in a crappy mood over it. Too bad I hadn't said as much, huh?

I'm out for awhile.

Thanks all.
