Yeah I've used non-state forms of ID in Texas w/out problems. You may want to go to a business that has more intelligent employees.

They said other states would be cool, but apparently federal issued IDs are not. I thought there was some kind of constitutional amendment pertaining to that. Something about the Federal govts laws superseding state laws. I was high most of the time in history, so I could be wrong.

Thinking about it more. I guess if they ever have the national ID card they want, the alcohol industry would go out of business. Don't truckers have some kind of national drivers licenses for class A?

I think it was probably more a problem with the employees being illiterate at best, or at worst their assuming that being Texas and all, many brown people probably use fake national documents to get things done.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Cool. When can I stop paying my federal taxes? I surely walk into the store and buy beer instead of the wife if I could get that deal!

What's the first thing a Texas gal say when she's losing her virginity? "Get off me daddy, your crushing my smokes" :star:

Hmm. I sat there and watched them take it. A state issued ID card. Watched it with my own eyes. They gave her some "receipt" which looked like a temp ID card, which of course is useless as you should know living in Texas since it has no photo on it.

To clarify, it was a written test, not the driving test. Not sure if that matters.

All that bull$hit aside, why shouldn't the state of Texas consider an I-551 (green card) a valid ID. The thing has about as much security (maybe more) as a US passport? Obviously much more than a Texas ID.

If they took your ID from you, then either A - the DPS agent didn't know what he/she was doing and thought it was a DL, or it wasn't because you failed a test.

Even then, there's no reason why you would get an ID card taken away.

I would have contacted an attorney to be honest if that was the case.

I'm not joking either. A state issued ID has NOTHING to do with your driving test until you actually pass the test. Then they might (and might is the key word) take it from you since it's physically been replaced to that point with a new form of ID.

It was spring break week, so the DMV place was packed. I'm over them taking her ID. It's not a big deal her not buying beer. She has her green card, her SS card and her Thai ID (which by the way has a smart chip in it and looks more secure than any ID or drivers license I have seen here in the US)

They don't give her any issues having a beer at a restaurant.

I just want her to pass the written driving test and I'll go from there.

The whole thing just seemed like 2 different state agencies contradicting themselves, which is quite annoying.
