suck it up and get a state DL or ID card. Plain and simple.

OR you can choose not to patron establishments that prefer you use a state ID.

It is at their discretion after all.

Dude, read my post. She had a Texas ID. it was the first thing I did when she got here. DPS took it away when she failed her driving test.

DPS doesn't take away an issued state ID when you fail a 'driving test.'

They won't let you get a DL OR they might take away a 'driving permit,' but a state issued ID is completely different.

Hmm. I sat there and watched them take it. A state issued ID card. Watched it with my own eyes. They gave her some "receipt" which looked like a temp ID card, which of course is useless as you should know living in Texas since it has no photo on it.

To clarify, it was a written test, not the driving test. Not sure if that matters.

All that bull$hit aside, why shouldn't the state of Texas consider an I-551 (green card) a valid ID. The thing has about as much security (maybe more) as a US passport? Obviously much more than a Texas ID.

You're new here, aren't you?

Paul is never wrong.

Eventually, you will learn.

Actually I'm really not new here at all. Don't look at my post count. I've been around along time.

Rob and Mel and Paul and Vanessa should get a room at some point with all the hostilities between those two. I bet if you locked them up in a hotel room with a couple fifths of whiskey, they'd have it all figured out.

It is entertaining though.

I suspect they'd end up spooning.

And after that they would probably end up moving to Vermont so they could get married legal like.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Might be hard to find the empties later, but that is just how they roll.

I should have posted this in "Moving here and your new life" It's a quandry though. Post it here you'll get responses. Although half of them will be why it's Bush's or Obama's fault. Post in Moving here and your new life, and no one would ever look at it.

Oh well. We'll get it figured out. Just thought it would be nice if while I'm filling the car up, she could go inside and get some beer with no BS. Apparently that's not an option in Texas until she gets ANOTHER ID card, or her drivers license.

Just seems really ignorant to me they wont accept an official US govt issued ID to buy beer. What if some redneck cop in BFE Texas wont take it? Or Arizona? Will she be deported?
