all non essential functions will stop until they get thier sh!t together and start spending less than they have... consulate, USCIS, NVC all of em taking time off... if it only lasts a few days it could have minimal impact on your case..

hoping for the best scott. the CRBA appt is may 10th. i need to buy a plane ticket soon, can't sit around a couple weeks waiting.

what's everyone gut feeling? the K-1 interview might be delayed but the CRBA appt will definitely happen? should i buy the tix or contact one of those places that help you with the immigration process and let them handle it w/o me flying back?

I will be in Saigon from May 9th to the 24th because my wife's interview is on May 11th. We should meet up to have some coffee.

I did my daughter's CRBA last year and I don't know if you have to be there but when my wife and I went, They interviewed us both.

The questions that was asked were almost like some of the interview questions for the visa. They also asked me for proof of 5 years living in the states from the age of 14 on. I had to bring all my school transcripts and everything. I was wondering since you don't have a marriage certificate, does your child have your name on the birth certificate?

Yes, this means the consulate will shut down until there is a budget. So any interviews will be pushed back, they will reschedule those that fall on the days they were supposed to happen, those that have interview dates after they budget is signed will NOT be bumped back, but those that were unlucky and had the dates while the government is shut down will be pushed back up to a month or even longer. Not good news, but it is what it is, all because they are getting ready for an election and no one wants to budge. Good luck to al those that are forced to wait. Jerome and Binh

sure thing about the meetup...pm me.

my son has the last name of my wife...the place wouldn't let me put down my name as we weren't married. looking back maybe i should've tried to slip them some money as it'll be simpler going forward with all the name changes later on once he's over. does the school transcript have to be official (school's seal/stamp)? i have an unofficial transcript with a photocopy of my college diploma...good enough?

Obama will get his record spending and with token reductions so the GOP can swell their chests and the Feds will keep going.helpsmilie.gif

I think the 12 B deal will go through in time and there wont be a shutdown.. it would hurt both sides if it did...

careful... somebody may move the cheese again if we get too political...

yes this isn't football and the nfl...too many factors are dependent on there being no shutdown that they'll work something out at the last hour. or maybe i'm just being the optimist

Great. So what exactly are we paying the visa fee and AOS fee for? The ridiculous thing is while the tax due date remains the same but your refund won't arrive should the gov't shutdown occurs! Great job Uncle Sam.:innocent:

Keep this foolishness tucked away in your memory when the next elections come around for your rep and US Senators. No matter the party, they are all guilty of letting things get to this point.
