The National Visa Center should have already received your petition packet and approve it within 1-2 weeks and sent it right along to Santo Domingo. Do you have a SDO case number? With it, you can call the visa specialist and get information of when the packet was sent and also if your interview has been scheduled. Keep calling and asking! Be proactive!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

I am in the same boat. My approval was march 10th, and still nothing. Also sent an email for research and we got a response saying that they have no record of the file at NVC (big surprise) and that they're going to have to contact USCIS. I guess we're the unlucky ones.

I feel a little better knowing I am not alone in this. I call several times a day and have had email traffic back and forth with NVC. I did talk to a very helpful USCIS officer. He said this is not uncommon and there is no problem.... This is sometime done to slow down the numbers of interviews at consulates (unofficial response of course :) ) The officer said just to keep calling it will happen.

I have noticed that this has been happening a lot lately with petitions from the UK and Dominican Republic, so what the officer says could be true as those countries have very busy consulates.

The Santo Domingo, D.R. Embassy is the second busiest in volume in the world and it is also considered to be high fraud. I was lucky enough to get the interview relatively quickly after NOA2, but it seems as though lately they have slowed down... Best wishes to all! (F)

We've contacted NVC they say they will speak to USCIS on our behalf

We contacted USCIS, they said that never happens, they also said we can't even raise a service request until 90 days after our NOA2 and that they hold no shipping infortmation. So we can't do anything for another 2 months!

They did say it could turn up before then, but all we can do for 2 months is wait and hope that it does.

Are USCIS hoping that if they treat us badly enough we'll decide to live in Europe?

It sure seems that way, Zedbraguy. We're August filers and haven't even gotten an NOA2 yet. I have 1 foot out the door towards moving back to China. I hate these people with every ounce of my body and wish horrible horrible things on them. We got an RFE in February stating that I wrote we met in Nov 2010 after the date we filed which I doubt I did but regardless there was a mountain of papers all dated proving I had been with her within the past 2 years (nevermind all the photos together). We replied to their RFE clarifying the supposed typo and including a new mountain of evidence in March and had it overnighted (they still said it was received a week later). That was the 14th, we've since contacted my congresswoman and she didn't even reply and then I physically came to the senators office and requested help and signed a release form. Still no answers. I'll call the senator's office in the morning but I gotta say China is looking better by the day.

Probably, but I won't wait another 4 months. I'll move back to China and become an English teacher if that's what I have to do. Expecting someone to live apart from their girlfriend/should be wife for over a year is insane. Actually Shenzhen is where we were living. Not a bad place to live.

Most people seem to get RFE's approved within a couple weeks. We just have terrible luck.

29 days doesn't sound like very much, but the trouble is we weren't prepared for it. We knew the NOA2 would take five months, it took slightly more than that so we're glad we weren't at VSC, although at the begining everyone wished it was the other way around. But from CSC to NVC was supposed to only take 3 weeks at the most, and most people were getting to the consulate within two weeks. But to have the NVC and USCIS both turn around and say they don't know where it is, and don't even care until it's three months, that's hard to deal with.

It comes down to the same thing.... not knowing is the hardest part

As a result of our congressman kicking #######, we have managed to find our petition. Still at CSC! It's now being sent to the NVC so hopefully we'll now see some progress
