Check Status Syndrome...

Yep, in the beginning you check constantly. Then about month 2 you taper off because you know you have a while to wait. Then at month 4 you start back up again. Then at month 5 you start going insane and make USCIS your homepage :)
This typical evolution is described very accurately, si man. In comparison, my wife is at the ROC stage (awaiting the NOA2), and I haven't checked her case status once, no man. Perhaps this is also completely (ab)normal.

The on-line case status is notoriously unreliable, anyway. During my I-129F NOA2 wait, I actually asked an immigration officer at USCIS about how assiduously the updates were done, and he said that if every case were updated every time something happened, it would crash their computer system. He said this soberly and seriously.

Congratulations to today's approvees who have announced themselves in this thread, si man! :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I agree its totally normal! I too got my approval 4/4 and tge feeling of seeing post decision is unbelievable. My advice is the wait is extremely stressful so spend more time nuturing the relationship while u wait. It is truly a test! Good luck!

DUDE! I feel like I have this syndrome! I'm checking our status at USCIS website everyday, 3 to 5 times a day since we received our case number! and we are only waiting for a month now, we still have 5 or more months to go!!! :bonk: I don't know if it just me or everyone here are doing the same...or I'm just getting nuts?!!! :crying::wacko::blink:

Anyways, Good day and have fun ya'll!

JT

Oh lord no, it is not just you. When I first filed I must have checked it about 10 times a day. As time goes on it will die down. You learn to make the best of the time you have, and just try to stay as close as possible to someone who is so far away. Just get to know eachother, get things ready for when your SO arrived. Stay busy... Work a lot, and save a lot of money. That is always a good thing. Anyway, now that I am done with my rant, I feel ya. I remember those days, and to be honest with you, I don't even want to think back to 6 months ago. Either way, I wish you very good luck and hope that it is smooth sailing for you!

Yeah we all do it. We're all looking for clues. No news is good news, thats the way I look at it, so if your last update date hasn't budged since the beginning its still smooth sailing! But if you've been touched and hit rough waters hopefully the storm will pass and the waters will be smooth again!

I read this just now sitting at my desk at work and BUSTED out laughing!:rofl::rofl::rofl:  omg....USCIS our homepage...it's true! We ALL check, check, check, and then check again. But, thanks for making me laugh today. We all need as much joy as we can to make it through this process.

We're definitely all in the same boat. I didn't sign up for the text/email alert to start off with because I figured we'd just get NOA2 in the mail and I wouldn't bother with it until then - but getting closer to 5 months changed that recently. We're both sooo anxious! Every text or email I get on my Blackberry lately makes me jump - I even wake up sometimes to check my phone! It's maddening! :D
