I found that the small mom/pop camera places where able to do the photos! I used the yellow pages the 1st time. Ensure you follow the guidelines, Canada is very picky! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I can't answer all of your questions, but I just renewed my passport from the US so I can answer some of them.

* Where did u get your CA passport photos taken in LA,CA?Does LA consulate provide such service?

I took my photos when i was visiting in Canada, so I didn't have to search for anywhere. I would suggest a local photography store/shop or you could even try Costco or Wal-Mart.

* Now that I have a different last name after the marriage, should I submit US doc.s or CA doc.s to suppor identity?

I also changed my last name and I sent signed photocopies of my greencard, US Driver's license and marriage certificate. Also sent my original birth certificate, which they sent back.

* Did u pay the fee in CDN $ or US $?

I just included my US credit card and they charged it in US funds, but I also incurred a $3.95 international fee from my CC company, so I wish I would've just given them my Canadian card. No big deal though.

* I need to fill out PPTC 132 "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor but I can't find it online to download it.Do I have to go to the consulate in LA and get it in person?

I believe this form must be obtained from the passport office directly, so you may want to call them and see if they can mail you one. Do you not have any friends or family at all that carries a passport you could use? It can be anyone that has known you for 2 years with a passport (you may already know this but just wanted to clarify it doesn't have to be a specific skilled person anymore.)

Agree with what Sapphire said above.....on the the guarantor part - find someone back in Canada if you can who has a current passport and can be your guarantor if at all possible, so much easier. I used my brother. I just renewed my daughter's and I was her's.

No you cant use the simplified renewal. You need to use the full form when you are submitting a name change because you are basically applying for a whole new passport not just renewing it.

Do your own pictures with a digital camera & a colour printer. That's what we did, and it was easy...Way easier than trying to find a photographer in the U.S. that does Canadian-sized passport pictures. Good luck!

if u take your own picture, then how do you manage meeting with the below requirements?

    1. Photos must be taken by a commercial photographer.
    2. The name of the photographer or studio, the address and the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo (see illustration).
    3. The photos

must measure 50 mm x 70 mm in size (2 in. wide x 2 3/4 in. high).

was it acceptable by the passport office, when u did it?

thnx
