Hello, I am an Army Soldier. I will be stationed in kaiserslautern, Germany this coming August and have questions pertaining to a tourist visa for my fiance.

Once I arrive in Germany at my duty station, I will get to work on the marriage process but need to know about getting the tourist visa for her.

My fiance and I have been together for two years here in Korea but would like to get married in Germany due to time constraints. On the list

of requirements on the tourist visa information page from the German embassy in the Philippines, there are a few questions I have about the

required documents.

1. Since she has been working here in Korea as a school teacher for a church her employment letter will have to come from here. Is this ok?

2. She has been working here in Korea and doesn't have a bank account in the Philippines any longer. With this requirement what is needed to

show her ability to pay her time in Germany? I will be inviting her to Germany and will be paying for everything to support her. Will my bank account and pay stub be OK for this requirement, or just have her open a bank account. The bank account will not be 6 months old in this case.

She will be coming to Germany to marry me so what documents will not be required in this circumstance?

3. Are there any other required documents she will need to have or any advice to make the process more smooth in getting her tourist visa approved?

Thank you for your assistance or any advise you can offer.

Bro, I will take a educated guess.

I will assume it would be very difficult for her to get a Tourist Visa to Germany, If they were easy I would think Germany would be flooded with lots of people from PI.....

In my opinion, Miltary especially active military should get your Visa for our wife/fiance at no cost and the US Govt. should bend over backwards to accomodate active military.

Good Luck and thank you for serving our Great Country......

My fiancée is stationed in Germany and I had visited him 3 times with a tourist visa. You have 2 ways for applying for a tourist visa. One is when you are travelling somewhere for tourism and the other one when you visit someone.

My suggestion for you is that if you are not so sure if she will get the visa by herself wait until you get to Germany and send her a “official letter of invitation” this process is really quick and you can have that paper in one day.

Go to the legal department on base and ask for the “letter of invitation” they will give you a form and you will have to seal that letter in a city hall. You can ask in base the address of the city where you have to submit this form, it’s based on your location.

They will also tell you what documents you need but I will tell you just in case.

Copy of your LES

Passport original and Copy

Rental Contract or the legal paper showing your address and that she will be staying with you

Letter of Invitation (Verpflichtungserklärung in german)

They will give you the letter seal immediately and you will have to send to your fiancé. If she presents this letter it will be much better and safe for her to get the visa. German embassy treats people very nice and they are very polite always trying to help. At least that’s my experience.

When she applies be sure that she has her ticket reservation with the day of return, also they will ask for her bank accounts and its ok if she does not have any of it she can show some credit card bills and the certificate of her work. She has to show them that she is coming back.

Fiancé Visa

If you really want to get married in Germany you can also proceed for a fiancé visa that is about the same but take more time depending on the embassy. If you go for that option remember the embassy that you are in US military that way they won’t ask her for taking a German basic language test.

Getting Married in Germany

I will like to tell you also that getting married in germany is not so easy. We apply for a K1 visa our plans where getting married in US but we did not send the proper documents so now we are thinking of maybe getting married here and it looks like there is a lot of paperwork. We are going to the city hall on Friday to ask for he requirements let me know if you want them so I can send it to you. They also tell us that it was better to get married in DENMARK they say its the VEGAS of Europe.

Thanks for the post....actually it is in the checklist to get this done with a tourist visa....being in the military and inviting my fiance to Germany is easy. We have all the requred documentation and in the letter it states the purpose is for marriage. It is one of the perks for being in the service. it is very common for Soldiers.

Yea, good luck on that one.

Let us know how that works out for you, I still say getting her a Tourist Visa out of PI to anywhere is gonna be very very difficult.

I will have to research both ways then just in case, but for Germany all the paperwork is normal, just have to get it translated etc.

I will have to see about Denmark. But the main thing is getting her tourist visa or her fiance visa approved and get her to germany.

In the military checklist it says get everything straight paperwork wise, then get the tourist visa and then she arrives and conduct the marriage.

After that I will drop the command sponsorship packet and that should do it.

The Fiance is a fairly easy process, and usually a fast process, and I "think" since you are military hopefully they can expidite your applicaiton.

I think if you get her a tourist visa with intent to marry then it could be an issue

The Best, is that why I should just apply for a fiance visa outright first? I'm sure the Germans are not stupid, and this happens a few times a month with all the Soldiers stationed there.

I would think the K1 would be the best for you.

Google K1 and other marriage based Visas and do some research. Look at the USCIS website it seems to be helpful as well..
