R u sure they did not look at your passport when you left the country? It does not make any sense to me, there would be system that tracks ppl leaving the country, which either you or me are not aware of.

If they don’t have a tracking system, then any criminal can leave the country after committing a crime.

The times I've drove across the border with Tn status, the US checks the I-94 on the way into the USA and Canada checks it on the way into Canada. They didn't usually check it on the way out. I have read online that the two countries then share that information. For the times I turned my I-94 in at the Canadian border, the US seemed to have a record of it.

The only time I got checked on the way out of the USA was in 2002 when the G8 summit was in Calgary, and they were going through every car that time.

That was before the WHTI, but From Julia's post, it sounds like it could still be the same way.

Yep you could be right, CA authorities might be sharing that info with US immigration, when a passport holder enters US and US can mark it exited out in their system.

Since US is not going to take any action if one have overstayed and are leaving to go back to CA, they would want to know this date when someone tries to reneter US.
