I contacted my congressman and they were very helpful. After signing the privacy form, they contacted me and told me where to send a letter to the USCIS stating they were on the case and I wanted a staus update. My 5 month mark is April 15. I got NOA2 on 4/4. So did it help? Who knows, but it certainly didnt hurt!

A congressman can only assist if the case is outside processing times or if there is a specific problem. If contacting them would speed up the processing all of us would have done it.

Lets be clear. The congressman CANNOT help unless there is an obvious error on the part of USCIS. Period. There are no time guarantees and NO ONE can make them do anything faster.

That said, you can call your congressman anytime you want for anything you want. He/she may or may not agree to call the service center and if he does he will be told to check back in 30 days (maybe 60 days)whether it is before or after 5 months.

Exceeding the planned "guideline" time for processing gives you no rights.
