Government Shutdown?

Dunno how me pointing out a clear fact that has been stated in the news since this all began is agreeing with partisan politics.

Seeing as how I would be furloughed because of this petty bullsh*t, along with 800,000+ other employees, I want them to grow the **** up, make the damn compromise, stop thinking compromise is weak and move on to the next damn years budget as this year (Fiscal) is half over.

Both sides are to blame and both sides can burn in **** for all i care.

are government employees "more special" than all the other private sector employees who have been permanently furloughed from their job during the past 2 years?

at least your furlough will be a temporary short term thing.

Oh look another pr**k VJer. I think Dizzy was right with her comment.

Know what, just to humor you. Yea, I am more special than a private sector employee.

So know what, be mad all you want that I have a job. I put my time into college to get my masters to get where I am at.

There happy? Anything else I can say to humor your ignorance?

actually you're not more special. just someone who is admittedly wasting taxpayer money by surfing the internet while supposedly working on the government dole.

you have a job ... congratulations.

you'll find that many here have jobs too. some have also lost and reacquired jobs during their immigration process. you may be getting an unscheduled short term vacation (are you able to use vacation days?) that will end with you reporting back to the same position, at the same pay, same benefits, etc ... and yet you whine about it.

oh btw ... nice brag about the masters. who really cares besides you?

Looks like the liberal here is a little mad. That or you're one of those tea party fools who is essentially a liberal with 180 degree view on the things

What's wrong kool-aid, don't understand sarcasm?

Get an education, learn facts, then come back and try to make a sustentative argument.

BTW, I'm not at work today, it's my day off, nice try though. Don't make assumptions, just makes an a** out of u...mption.

Pretty much. Anything else you want to assume?

Jeez, no wonder Obama was elected, I can see the stupidity here with people making assumptions.

BTW seeing as 48% of Americans don't pay taxes, I wonder how many of you b***hing at me even do pay....hmm the irony.

And with that, I'm out. Since people are ignorant and apparently don't understand words, I'll provide the definition of one:

Sarcasm

sarcasm (ˈsɑːkæzəm)

— n

1. mocking, contemptuous, or ironic language intended to convey scorn or insult

2. the use or tone of such language

[C16: from Late Latin sarcasmus, from Greek sarkasmos, from sarkazein to rend the flesh, from sarx flesh]

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sarcasm

Keep on making assumptions and hiding behind your computer screens big talkers. If it's one thing I've learned it's loud mouths on the internet are nothing but spineless adults in the real world.

Either way, let the government shut down, it will hurt you all more economically than you could ever imagine. Just don't come back crying after the fact.

NVC will accumulate a backlog during the shutdown equal to the number of days the government was shut down. Thus, even cases which remain in USCIS during the shutdown will be delayed by that same amount of time while NVC processes its backlog of earlier cases.

Thus, regardless of where your application is in the system, everyone's application will be equally delayed by the government shutdown. The number of days our applications will be delayed will be equal to the number of days the government was shut down.

It doesn't mean very much. The entire government will not stop working. It will only effect non-essential government functions like national parks, some parts of the departments of education, agriculture and energy, and other really obscure government offices.

Key functions like defense, DHS, the department of state (embassies and consulates), FBI, CIA, Medicare/Medicaid, and Social Security will operate as usual.

Amazing..."doesn't mean very much" ...You're very much in the dark.

The military will *not* be paid (confirmed, one week pay on the 15th & nothing after - we are a military family). So, my husband is in harms way, being shot at daily ...and he's a MEDIC... in the midEast -- but won't be paid.

Emergency responders won't be paid, but must work (still a possibility that firefighters will be sent home).

SS office *will* shut down...but checks will still be mailed (computer generated). North Carolina has already openly stated they will most likely be shut down -- and any other SS offices will be in the same situation.

The VA stays open to provide med services & burial services for wounded & dead DoD personnel - but no emails, phone calls, investigations for pending cases (etc.) will be happening.

IRS - limited ... hopefully people have either already filed or e-filed...if not, they won't get refunds for a while.

GOV'T QUOTE: "Passport Processing: Not Working Passport processing employees will be sent home during the shutdown, causing delays in the 200,000 passport applications currently pending. Visa processing will also be delayed or halted." ...do the research.

Anyone in the midst of buying a home? FHA ...closed.

Dept. of Parks & Rec (my sister happens to be one of the thousands of employees in this dept.) - closed. (I don't care for the sentiment of the previous post....as if "no one" is affected because they can't go to a park or zoo -- how about those who WORK there?? and need to pay RENT??)

THIS IS FAR MORE SERIOUS THAN WHAT YOU ARE TELLING PEOPLE! Quit sugar-coating it. There have been 5 shutdowns in the past 30ish yrs. but NEVER has the military had their pay taken away (delayed, whatever). THAT MAKES THIS A HUGE DEAL!

Various affects other than closures and loss of incomes? The CDC will not be monitoring for disease out-breaks or be able to test samples sent from hospitals around the nation (example? how about samples sent by hospitals to test for West Nile Virus.....or any other fatal virus....) -- weapons permits will be halted, any pending bankruptcy cases will be suspended --- CASES OF DELINQUENT CHILD SUPPORT, suspended -- MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF REVENUE typically collected by parks, monuments, museums, etc....gone....guess who will need to foot THAT LOSS when this is over?

LOOK THIS STUFF UP BEFORE YOU POST. What's the matter with you? Put 2 & 2 together...if this has never happened in the past, to this extent, how can you say HOW LONG it will last? This gov't is seriously corrupt and ineffective - look at how long the Union nonsense has taken! Don't comfort people & tell them not to worry....warn them and tell them to PREPARE.

No one can say who will or will not be paid as usual, or what will be shut down since those things are subject to presidential discretion and Obama hasn't said what he plans to do. Anyway, no two shutdowns are the same, but, those who are furloughed will be paid eventually.

Serious?

Yes, people not getting their Gubmit cheese is serious.

Man we are becoming a pathetic/dependent society.

Seriously...

Of course, as a military wife you should also know that there is a bill in congress to make sure military personnel do still get paid after that week. OR if you know anything historically, once a budget is passed then you will get back pay. Let's ignore this part of it as well.

Chill out. Seriously.
