Correct. I brought a lot more than 10K with no problem. I declared it on the form & was not asked a question about it. There are many other ways to transfer the money. Each one has a price to pay for the service. Just decide what price you are willing to pay.

There's a price either way, in fees, risk or unfavorable exchange rate. You weigh your options and see which one is the best fit for you. I don't mind carrying cash and do it in a way that makes me comfortable. A purse would not make me comfortable but pockets of cargo pants feel safe to me. It's a personal thing.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

If you are planning on visiting home in the future, I'd recommend keeping a bank account open in your home country.

Then when you travel back home, you can wire money from the US direct to that account and access your travel money through ATM's. You'll practically avoid foreign transaction fees this way.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Why don't you open up a bank account that is worldwide?

Here is a link to Citi Bank UK: http://www.citibank....m?merchant=citi

Then I'm sure it will be fairly easy to walk into a Citi Bank branch in the US and access your money or open a new account...

HSBC UK: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/

Wells Fargo UK: http://www.wellsfargobank.co.uk/

Any of these will do...
