Denny's. Carrows. IHOP. They are all pretty bad, and getting worse. It is getting so the only places I trust are mom and pop pizzerias and hole in the wall Mexican restaurants.

Obviously there are a ton of mom and pop pizzerias around here but not all are good. Many have been acquired by Albanian immigrants and then quality goes bye bye.

I love Olive Garden. Ours are clean, the staff is great and the food consistently wonderful. I enjoy Red Lobster, too.

RL is ghetto.

For seafood if I must eat at a chain I like McCormick's.

some of my favorite food in this entire city comes from a taco cart, that's parked in the owner's front yard, in a scrappy neighborhood i'm not comfortable leaving my car in unless it's within eyeshot. but it's really damn good food, cheap, and i'd rather eat there than the $100+ place my husband and i went to the other night. though at the nice place, i didn't have to give a second thought to where the car was parked.

When I lived near Seattle Red Lobster was the place. You could get a capt. plate with salad and bread and it was enough food for dinner, and lunch the next day. We don't have Red Lobster or Olive Garden here in Alaska yet :(

There used to be a ####### load of decent pizza / Greek / Italian food joints in Anchorage owned by the Greeks. They all came from one island there (Corfu) and they were all related. Great food. Now the Albo's own just about all of them and it's not even close to being the same. Down hill all the way.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Your from Portland right ? You ever eat at a joint called JJ's ? It's off of Halsey St. near a bowling alley. All you can eat buffet. Been there for years now, and they used to have great food.

i never ate there, i've never been a buffet fan. it's been closed for years, and was torn down. it's going to be a park, according to the sign, but that's one sad looking place to try and make a park imo. you'll have to try someplace else if yr ever in stumptown. i like el indio, just down the road from there on halsey. it's not bad at all.

That's why I left Alaska, although I still miss El Sombero. Their Mexican food was so much better than anything I've found in Colorado.

Awesome! Time for Muslims to get over themselves and join the modern world. Can we try Moses and Buddha next? Jesus had his trial and we all know what happened there.

Not a problem in an open and free society.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Man...no more JJ's :( wth That totally blows. That place was an icon for years for us poor folk with big appetites.

I heard of that place but haven't ate there. Most of the decent restaurants that were around for what seemed forever are closed now. They even closed La Mex...who had about the best margarita's going imo. Anchorage has changed a lot. It's become some kind of yuppie h*ll. You can't even smoke in the bars now. Most of the population has moved to the Valley (Wasilla, Palmer, Willow, etc...) to escape. Wasilla has grown big time in the past two decades.

I took the car up to Haines on the ferry once, then drove with a couple of our kids up to Anchorage to see friends. I wasn't impressed with the town nor the food, but this was the early 80's. What I remember most was not the food, but moose roadkill along the way. The sight of moose hooves sticking straight up next the road is quite memorable. You have to wonder what could hit those things and keep going, and pray that it doesn't happen to you

What's a shmoo?

I'm done with this ###### pastor though. He's already had more than enough of my attention, he's not getting a second more. Talk about self important.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Who really gives a dayum about the topic? If you want to hear pastors try and convict Muhammad (pbuh), iTunes is the place to go. Lots of hateful preachers on mp3 doing just that 24/7. Restaurants and food are much more interesting to talk about.
