It will be the same, walk-ins do not speed up anything because they have to hold the prints till they get your file to attach it.

My understanding is that the walk-in probably won't do anything to the overall processing time of your AOS application, but what it does do is allow the petitioner to try the congressman route earlier if you for some reason need the EAD/AP fast. I, for example, have a job offer - which I of course can't accept until I have my EAD. My biometrics was scheduled for April 14th. I did a walk-in on March 31st. I plan to write my congressman around April 10th, to see if I can get my EAD faster, so that I could accept the job. If it works, then I guess yes, the fact that I did a walk-in earlier did make the process faster, as I was able to contact my congressman earlier. Or, it might not have any effect at all.

Why do the walkin then? Not even the work permission?

Because some people get dates that they cannot do their appointments on or they want to do it early to get it out of the way.

no one really can give you a valid/right answer to this. the answer would be `it depends`!

like mrs finland said, it won't make any difference on the whole AOS process. but can make a difference for the EAD to arrive, why? coz EAD can't be processed without biometrics but once you got that then it can be processed.

According to my search on the timelines on this site, it shows that for some people it really make a difference and for some it just doesn't!
