Hello all,

I havent posted in a while and I would like to hear your take on my dilemma please!

I know that there are knowledgeable peeps in here who knows who I hope could help me out too.

I am a US citizen and I have two passports: one is US, the other is Romanian.

I met someone 4 months ago and as of now I am in Romania and I want to know what are my options.

If I were to marry my lady in Romania would the paperwork and time frame would be faster?

Do I have to stay in Romania as long as the paperwrok are being processed?

I heard that someone who got married in RO, got her GC in a few months.

I know that if I have to go back to US , I would have to do fiancee visa and later on to marry her in US and start the

paperwork in US for adjustment of status.

Thanks a lot for any info,

Vito

PS. Initailly I posted this on K1 forum but I was advised to post in here as people who are posting here know more about this issue.

Like I answered in prior post, you do not need to remain overseas while I-130 is being processed, in fact it is normal, to return to the USA and file the I-130, and perhaps make a couple vacation trips over there while the petition is being processed.

My wife and I were married in Bucuresti, and once I had all the documents from the marriage, I flew back to USA and immediately started the I-130 process. I'm a little fuzzy on your question, though. Are you asking if K-1 is faster than CR-1?

I think you need to define in your question the following:

1) Faster than ________?

2) Paperwork = ________?

USCIS JOURNEY

11/04/2010: Sent I-130 packet.

11/07/2010: NOA1, Priority Date

11/09/2010: Touched

11/16/2010: I-797C, Notice of Action received

03/15/2011: Touched

04/10/2011: Sent email to my Democrat congressman

04/15/2011: Sent email to my Republican senator

04/26/2011: NOA2 - Approved

04/30/2011: NOA2 - Received in mail

NVC JOURNEY

05/06/2011: NVC received case from USCIS

05/06/2011: NVC case number assigned

05/09/2011: Received IIN and Beneficiary ID number via email

05/09/2011: Emailed DS-3032 and optin email

05/09/2011: AOS bill invoiced and paid

05/10/2011: AOS bill shows PAID

05/10/2011: NVC accepted wife's DS-3032 email

05/11/2011: Mailed AOS package to NVC

05/11/2011: IV bill invoiced and paid

05/12/2011: AOS package shows as delivered to NVC

05/13/2011: IV bill shows PAID

05/19/2011: Wife sent DS-260 & supporting documents via DHL to me

05/23/2011: I received DS-260 documents from wife

05/24/2011: IV package mailed

05/26/2011: IV package received by NVC

06/07/2011: NVC Case Completed

06/09/2011: Interview scheduled

Hi Burebista,

What a warrior name you have..;)))

I think we both are in the same shoes as I intend to marry my GF here in ROmnaia and after that I would return to US and do the CR-1.

Fiancee visa seems to be longer and I like that as soon as she comesto US she will get her GC and could work right away as opposed to fiancee visa where I would have to start the AOS after she get to US.

Where in US are you?

After you get married how long did it take to get your marriage certificate? IS that all you needed to start the I 130?

Thanks a bunch for all your input,

V
