we have gotten the K1 visa- we have arrived in the states- we have been together for 4 years living over seas and are now starting to get settled in the u.s.. i am the u.s. citizen and we are cutting it close to our 90 days to get married (we have 40 days to wed) our lawyer was expensive and not really helpful in many aspects but she always pointed us in the right direction at least, now im overwelmed and dreading paying this lady an arm and a leg to "point me in the right direction" -

so what next? we get married, get a certificate and follow the guidelines My link

to get a I-485??????

when we came into the states the customs officer kept the sealed packet we arrived with(visa, medical, proof) and said it would be joined with our packet after marriage, so is a majority of our forms already done and there? we dont need to fill our any more financial or demographical forms right??? its all been done. i have no clue where to begin.. is there a checklist on the uscis website im not finding?

lost.

thanks for any pointers.

Ok you need to get married and file the AOS paperwork.

Yes there are more forms but we did them ourselves after paying a lawyer for the K-1. I found AOS much easier than the k-1 to be honest. The guides on VJ (SEE LINK AT TOP OF SCREEN)guide you step by step and we are hear to answer questions as the come.

We used just the guides and got our AOS approved without a lawyer and without a RFE.

Good luck, you will be fine
