Taiwan : Can I bring a Vietnamese wife with me as a US Citizen?

I'm currently in a relationship with a Vietnamese lady. If things work out, I would like to marry her in the future. However my job may transfer me to Taiwan. Could I, as a US Citizen, marry a Vietnamese citizen and bring her to live with me in Taiwan?

What are the problems that I would face? What evidence do I need to present to the Taiwanese government?

I know nothing at all about Taiwanese visa procedures. However, speaking from general principles:

It sounds like your work is arranging your Taiwanese work visa. In the vast majority of countries, the non-immigrant work visa categories are paired with a derivative non-immigrant visa categories for dependents of work visa holders.

If you marry your Vietnamese lady before your work begins the application process to get you a Taiwanese work visa, and your work is aware of this, they should be able to get her a derivative-status dependent visa of some kind, so she can accompany you.

She would need, at a minimum, a passport, and a marriage certificate showing her marriage to you. Taiwan may also want police reports or background checks of various kinds, I have no idea.

Really, the best place to ask about this would be your work's HR department - specifically the immigration lawyers who are handling the Taiwanese work visa - or the nearest Taiwanese embassy.

DON'T PANIC

Depends on visa requirements for Taiwan allowing someone from Vietnam to Reside in Taiwan.

Also would this be before immigrating to the USA or after?

We are not at the stage where we have decided to get married yet. I don't want to rush things.

If I get moved to Taiwan, I'm certain that we won't be married at that time. I would likely have to go to Vietnam, get married and then apply for a visa for her to come to Taiwan. I'm not certain what to do in this case.

She would not come to the USA. It would be straight from Vietnam to Taiwan.

VJ is for Immigration to the US so you need to find a forum that covers immigration to Taiwan for that situation.

You triggered an interesting thought. If we decide to move back to the US and we are living in Taiwan. Would she apply at the US embassy in Taiwan or have to go back to Vietnam?

Typically country of residence would be where interview would take place.
