If you mean the Western international community, they have chosen to intervene to aid those who wish to see a more democratic version of Libya, or at least a less Gadafi run version so 'we' have a vested interest in the outcome. Right, but the reason why Gaddafi was going after civilians has not changed so while that short term mission has been accomplished there is no long term solution that will prevent the exact same thing happening again. 'We' are still well and truly involved while Gaddafi remains in power and he has the means and the will to play the long game.

We can't protect all the people all the time. The best we can do is give them a chance to protect themselves.
