All you need is I D & a copy of the bio letter. You wont be there long. Pictures, prints & out the door.

I don't know if they are all the same, but in Atlanta you could only take a photo ID, (passport is good), and the appointment letter. You could not take a purse or cell phone in the building. Also, they would not allow me in the building to accompany my wife. A group of us just mingled around outside and waiting for our wives or husbands to complete the bio. About half would get to the security guard and get sent back to their car to drop off their purse or cell phone. Actually only took about 10 minutes once they got inside the bulding.

If your name on your NOAs and appointment letter doesn't match your name on your ID (because you are taking your husband's name), bring your marriage certificate to show the name change. I had to show mine.

If you changed your name after you were married, bring your marriage license. The person taking my wife's fingerprints said it makes it easier for them even though it is not requested in the appointment letter.

If you have a SSN, bring that. The form asked for my husband's and we did not bring it with us. He doesn't have it memorized yet. It turned out not to be a big deal, as the lady just marked through that part and said it was ok. However, if you have it, you should probably bring it.

Social Security Number isn't required in Biometrics stage, they do ask for your Alien #, all is needed is the appointment letter and a Government issued ID.

No, it wasn't absolutely required, like I said. She just marked through that part on the form, and then told us she marked through it so he wouldn't be asked for it again. The form DID ask for it though.

Cannot edit my post. They give such a tiny time frame to edit on these boards. Anyway, just wanted to add...

the paper he had to fill out at his bio appt. asked for his A# and his SSN. We did not know his SSN off the top of our heads, so we left it blank. When the lady looked over his paper, she outright asked him if he had a SSN or not. He told her he did, but did not know what it was because he did not bring his card with him. She then marked through that part as she told us she was marking through it so he wouldn't be asked for it again. So, required or not, they asked, and it would not be a bad thing for anyone with a SSN to bring it to their bio appt.

I would assume your Biometrics appointment is for both I-485 and I-765. Make sure you put those two application/receipt number on the form you fill out for the Biometrics Appointment.

Thanks all - just got back, easy peasy. I arrived 1/2 hour beforehand, they took me right away and 10 mins later I was out the door. I took my appt letter, notifications, passport, face and fingers (that was very funny btw Alla!). And no they didn't ask for my ssn but when i was reviewing my file on screen with the officer I volunteered it.

So now I wait for the next round of notifications, sigh...
