Interview date?

Hello,

I haven't updated my timeline yet (sorry, will do soon!) but my fiance has already received and sent off packet 3, I've paid the visa fee and have a receipt, and it has been over a week since my fiance's medical. I seem to recall somebody saying that you don't have to call the seriously expensive embassy line to check and see if you've been issued an interview date, but I don't know what line that is.

I tried calling the NVC, and they just gave me the expensive embassy number.

What do we do? just wait? Is there a different number? Help would be appreciated, THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Additionally, how far away should I expect the interview date to be? I'm really hoping that it is before the middle of May because otherwise our wedding plans will fall through :(

Engaged :) 6/28/10

Mailed I-129F Packet 8/2/10

Check Cashed 8/12/10

Edit:

Tried calling the department of state Visa Services, Public Inquiries Division at (202) 663-1225. I got though the first section, but when I get to the main menu part I can't choose any of the options. No matter what number I press, I get to hear the main menu again. I can't get through to a human, or even out of the main menu. I suspect that I am calling the wrong number or something.

A few people lately got very short notice or didn't get the appointment letter (delayed/no postage) until the day before the interview. Do check in with DOS in case you don't get a letter.

We submitted our Packet 3 documents on Thursday, 31 March and today (5 April) I was notified that our interview date is April 21. Hope that gives you some hope!

#######! Well, for us, not for you - congrats for you! :D We had our package rec'd at embassy same day as you, but going CR-1 route, so I guess the wait is longer for our interview.... Fingers crossed for a date soon.

Spoke too soon. Half an hour on the DoS line yielded info that interview is in two weeks! I think I'm going to run around in circles and shriek for a little while.

Oh great! It's at 0830, my husband might see you there then :) That is, unless the pesky government doesn't decide to shut down after Friday..... I'm wondering if the embassy is considered "essential" and therefore would remain open. Hmmmmm, think I will look into that tomorrow!
