my mom has two cousins that got married.... One cousin is from her dad's side and the other cousin is from her mom's side....

I think there is another relationship kind of like that in my mom's family but I can't remember the connection....

As far as I know, it's totally legal, even if it may seem strange to most of us.

Now visa wise, they're in no way related, and that's the only question asked, they won't have to write down in their application that their children are married. And if they're widows or divorced and met this way, it shouldn't pose as a problem, at least in my point of view.

I find this scenario, though uncommon, totally acceptable. the two people are wholly unrelated by blood it is merely an act of chance that brings them together and yet if both are unattached (widowed, divorced, whatever) it is obvious they also have an immediate common bond, likely to have similar outlooks/beliefs on life (well their kids did) so to find them attracted seems not at all unlikely or weird to me - and it would sure cut down on arguements over whose parents you were spending Xmas Day with LOL

And we wonder why our world is in such termoil. I love it when people bring up these things and use the words weird, bizzare, twisted etc...etc...

Who cares, as long as two people (not related by blood) love one another and they are of consenting age why bring scrutiny on their choices? My morals in such matters extend to me and I do not feel the need to impose them on the rest of the world. Now if someone were causing harm to another I would step in but please enlighten me and tell me what possible harm this could cause except in a world full of narrow minded people.

So my bottom line question is with the OP already presuming that is twisted what could be possibly gained by this thread other than making some feel like ####### for wanting to marry someone who is not of blood relation and is of consenting age?

i don't see what the problem is either but hey, that last line is certainly a benefit isn't it? :P

No, I'm understanding what you're saying. I still think it's strange. But I know why it felt so familiar to me now. It was recently in a US movie: The Family Stone http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356680/

Two sisters from one family and two brothers from another family. They get together and the ending implies they all get married. I thought it was strange when I saw the movie.

I have NEVER heard of this in real life.

As another poster snidely--but perhaps accurately--suggests, I may have led a sheltered life. :innocent:

It's not that weird really. My husband has 2 older sisters who married 2 brothers(unfortunately one of the brothers was killed about 5 years ago in a road accident :( ).

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

:thumbs::yes:

It's jsut so easy to make a snap judgement on something instead of taking just a few minutes to think about it...even if it's something one has never heard of. Have I ever heard of this situation?...NO...but I don't find it odd either. That's not to say they they might not be treated with a bit more scrutiny at a CO's office...but hey, Congratulations that they found each other!!

I did not mention it in my previous post but I do not think that is a problem, it almost makes sense as a previous poster said they would have quite a bit in common, like their children...and WOOHOO easy X-mas plans! :thumbs:

It was late and my head was spinning with the brothers marrying the sisters and trying to explain the brothers are NOT brothers to the ladies in that example! =)
