I called yesterday and the automated system said my case was completed on 7/5. Do they send an email notification or do we have to wait for the paperwork to get to the embassy and an interview date is set before they send something?

It takes 2-3 weeks for the interview date to be given after the case is complete? And then the wait for the interview is mostly dependent on when they have room on their interview calendar?

Just looking at timelines and reading on here... Is this all basically right?

Only those doing EP will get a case complete email. As you didn't do EP, you will not get this email. Those that aren't eligible for EP or choose not to do it only find out their CC from the AVR and/or an operator.

And the paperwork isn't sent to the consulate/embassy until an interview date is scheduled. Each month or so, the consulates and embassies send NVC their availability for each visa category. NVC then schedules accordingly. So, when your case is complete, it's put into a queue. It'll then get scheduled.

The wait time between case complete and an interview date being scheduled varies from each consulate/embassy. Some people find out the next day, some a few weeks later, and some months later. It'll depend on how busy the consulate/embassy is. And the time between the interview date being scheduled and the interview date also depends on the consulate/embassy.

It won't ever say 'accepted'. It just stays as 'complete'. The only way to know if it was accepted is either through the AVR, an operator tells you, or the IV bill appears.

Thanks everyone!! My wife got the Visas today,,, I was surprised that they did not use her married name on the Visas,,, is that normal?

All the IV docs have all been in her previous name as well as her passport. I guess I was under the impression that since she was providing copies of our marriage license (with new last name) that they would have used her new name for the new Visa they just created for her. Maybe that's not how they do it.,,,?

Nope. Just cause she's married, her last name doesn't change. You have to legally change it. My legal last name is still my maiden name since I haven't legally changed it. I'm waiting for citizenship as that's the easiest time.
