My wife's interview was today... APPROVED!!! She asked about picking up the visa tomorrow but, the Consulate said to wait for approximately 2 weeks to receive it in the mail :( Kind of a bummer because our 1 year wedding anniversary is next week.... but hey, we've waited this long... what's two more weeks, right?

Still awaiting an interview date.

They keep feeding me the line about interviews only being assigned during the second week of each month for the following month. IE between June 13th and 17th they would assign me for an Interview in July (if available) otherwise it would sit for an entire month again.

Does anyone know if you get an e-mail acknowledging that the interview date has been assigned? Ill be happy if that is the case, I hate hearing them tell me to stop calling each week.

Don't listen to their scripts. You can get an interview date assigned any week of the month. Mine was assigned during the FOURTH week.

And yes, once an interview date is assigned, you'll get an interview letter by email. You need to print out the first page with the date and bring that to the consulate or they won't let you in.

Yes, you should get an email when the date is set - it's the "packet 4" appointment letter with instructions. Mine was dated May 12th and showed up May 13th. The subject line in my email was our NVC case number then (STD P4 APP). They must send them out relatively fast after setting the date because I had talked to an operator a couple days before I got the email and no date was set yet.

It might be true that they start assigning dates in the second week for the next month... and I do know a lot of the June dates were set the second week of May. Not all of them, though. They are just quoting you the standard ####### and it's totally possible you will get your date well before the second week of June. I think it's very likely you will, personally. As Saylin says, hers was assigned in the last week of the month, so we know it's possible! Good luck!

Wow, that's disappointing after hearing CC. What did you submit for your wife's unobtainable birth certificate?

We had to submit something in liu of my unobtainable birth certificate too.

I haven't heard anything since I submitted the IV supporting documents. I tried calling NVC last week, they kept telling me to wait 20 days, which probably means that they are not reviewing my case yet...and I tried the AVR system this morning, the message they gave me was that they sent out an information package on May 10th.

Submitted community association's letter stating - born at home, no birth registered etc. & affidavit from mother. They want letter from birth registrar of birthplace.

What did you submit???

What did you submit???

I submitted a letter with a seal from the United Nations stating that my family arrived at a refugee camp on a certain date and left on a certain date to enter Canada. I then had my mother write an affidavit with her info, my father's name, my name, date of birth and place of birth. I hope I won't get an RFE, the lady who handled the birth certificate at the UNHCR office confirmed that she has done this for other citizens going through immigration and all governments should accept it. It's supposed to replace my birth certificate entirely.

I called NVC on Friday 5/20/11 and was told that my case was complete and waiting to be assigned a Interview date. I also got a SIF starting on Friday morning. However, today I received an email RFE that my Police Clearance certificate was missing. In my DS-230 submission I had mentioned that PCC is generally available only after IV approval (from my wife's passport office in India) and my wife will be bringing that to the interview. I was told by three different operators over a one week period that this was OK. Should I call them and have them reconsider? Should I email them the response? Has anyone else gone through this situation?

i would not worry about it... i also got an RFE for PCC but i actually got it and submitted it to NVC before my case was complete...

now u can take that RFE print out and get ur PCC done... thats what we had to do to... they wouldnt issue us a PCC without it...

and congrats on CC... now the wait is on for the interview date... im just 3 days ahead of u... lets see how close do they schedule us for an interview... good luck...

CONGRATS!!!

:dance::dance:

Today when I called the operator I FINALLY found out what was causing the operators to give me different answers each time I called. Apparently the person who reviewed my IV packet with the civil documents put an abbreviation that the operators didn't know about. Either the reviewer misspelled the abbreviation or the operators are not informed of that particular abbreviation. The operator had the guts to tell me that finally. He saw the civil documents in the system so he put one and one together and figured out that my IV packet was reviewed and that there was nothing wrong with it. Now I just need my RFE for the AOS to be reviewed and it has been 3 weeks for that allready.

Thank you California Guy. The same thing happened to me at TSC, that's how I was approved for Expedite.

Oi Amigão Congrats, Parabens kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif

Thank you. Your interview is coming soon.

Thanks digital82. Now it does say that the case is complete at NVC when i call and listen to the AVR message. Also talked to an agent and she confirmed that its complete and need to wait for interview date. I am hoping we get early July. How long does it take for the NVC to send the paperwork to the Consulate? Does the consulate contact you prior to the interview date being set?

NVC will assign an interview date first and then all the paperwork for the case gets sent to the consulate. Usually they send it a day or two after the interview date is scheduled. The consulate will not be contacting you at all. The last correspondence you should receive before your interview is package 4 from NVC with interview details.
