I realise i needed to show proof of legal stay here but did not realise NVC needed to see it. Well i guess others will learn from my mistake.

Yeah, I made a note in my wiki about permanent residency in case it helps any others out cause I hadn't thought about that either.

Oh, #######. I didn't know about this one. My husband had a J1 in 2009... the "2 year rule" didn't apply to him, but I can see how I should probably prove that. I did send proof that he fulfilled the requirements in the I-130 package, but I doubt they will look in there. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Saylin! Better to preempt another checklist.

I'm never going to get out of the NVC!

They MIGHT look at the I-130 package, but I'm not sure. Best to get everything ready ahead of time just in case though. Good luck.

People, I had sent my IV by EP and never got an auto-reply and the following day I received a reply. I think someone actually looks at it and replies the following day. I hear it might take up to 48 hours for a reply.

So don't expect an auto-reply all the time.

@HappyUser Sorry for the RFE. After you send it I'm sure it won't take more than 2 weeks for them to make a decision. Good luck.

That's interesting that you're not getting auto replies, but replies from a real person. When I emailed my packages back in February, all I got were auto-replies, no replies from a real person. Perhaps NVC is changing their system...

I never got auto-replies for my sent documents... and yet, a few days later I received an official reply from NVC saying they received them, so don't worry too much. I over-worried and resent it twice... ended up with NO auto-replies, but 3 confirmations a few days later. LOL They probably think I'm nuts. oh well! But i have received auto-replies for just regular emails. weird.

I received confirmation for choice of agent in 2 days.

i forgot one more question. How to understand when NVC receievd my documents?

You need to call NVC and SPEAK TO AN OPERATOR! Don't listen to an answering machine. You may have lost a few days already. 10 days is more than enough to get into the system.

They requested a copy of mine so I would reccommend you send it in now to not delay the process, I got an RFE but only lasted 1 day as I had sent in a copy of my DS2019 and visa photo page with a cover letter from the payment portal and it was no problem.

I believe if there is nothing wrong with your case than you do get an auto-reply but once you receive an RFE or take too long to send a file than they do it manually. Just my guess though.

Emailed AOS package yesterday - file size 8MB. No automated reply. Called NVC and spoke to operator this morning. No confirmation of receipt of email package. She said "NVC receives thousands of emails everyday. Give it 2 weeks".

Just got an email from a live person confirming receipt of AOS package. :)

RE: Affidavit of Support I-864 for NVC Case Number MTLXXXXXXXXX

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your correspondence.

We received electronic documentation for this case. The documentation will be reviewed and uploaded to your electronic case file.

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by telephone, mail, or email), all submitted fees and documents will expire. If this occurs, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov. Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

Thanks for your response, Twodice. That makes me feel a lot better. I e-mailed and normal mailed them today. My husband can't find the DS-2019 (when can he ever find anything??), but I sent the visa photo page (which says TWO YEAR RULE DOES NOT APPLY) and a document he received from his sponsoring organization. I also answered questions about his J1 that the NVC seems to want if you don't have the DS-2019 (who sponsored, did the US finance it, was he a doctor getting medical training, etc, etc).

Thanks again for your help!

I sent six e-mails the first day my optin was accepted. 4 of those were replied to as received about two or 3 hours later. 2 of them just sat. I waited a day then sent those two with a note saying they were duplicates since I didn't receive a response.

These duplicates were answered later that night with not one, but 2 different people processing them. Guess my others were just missed. Oh well!

So everything is done now. I just have to wait, pray for no RFE's, and get an appointment.

How long does it take for the SIF/Interview scheduling part?

Thanks,
