I have a question about Part 5, Question 21: Sponsor's Household Size on form I-864.

A little information about me. I am a USC married to a Pakistani citizen and we have a 21 month old daughter who is also a USC. Hence, our household size is 3.

The main thing that is confusing me is that it states not to count anyone twice. Since I am only sponsoring my wife on this I-864 I am going to enter 1 for question "a". Question "b" will be answered with a 1 as well. Question "c" states to enter 1 if you are married for your spouse. And then I will enter 1 for question "d" pertaining to any dependent children.

Do I leave question "c" blank since that pertains to my wife and she is the one I am sponsoring in question "a". I know this sounds pretty confusing but hopefully someone who is married and is sponsoring their spouse understands what I am saying and can answer this question for me.

Thanks in advance,

Fahed

P.S. Thank you Saylin for starting this thread and adding all those important links in your first post. Very helpful.

This is how it will look:

a - 1

b - 1

c - 0

d - 1

e - 0

f - 0

g - 0

h - 3

It may seem weird not to put a 1 in c since you're married, but you've already put your spouse in question a as they're the immigrant. But you have to remember, the I-864 is used in other visas and not just spousal ones. Although I do think USCIS should change the wording or something cause I see this question confuse a lot of people applying for spousal visas.

And you're welcome! I'm glad you found the links helpful :)

*pokes her head in* Hi! Still waiting on the NVC to issue a number. Is it sad that even though the hubby and I are going to drag our feet in this, I still want them to hurry up and freaking give us a case number already? :hehe:

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.

hi again, i have an AOS related question. my husband's tax agency filed his tax return as single since im not there yet. will that be a problem? also we are having a little bit of problem understanding the AOS, since my husband is short a couple of bucks so we will be needing a co-sponsor. Which we already have. My navy friend will co sponsor. I just dont know if me and my 3yr old daughter be needing separate AOS and will my friend be needing to sign two separate i864? and the same goes with my husband, will he be needing to file two separate i864? thanks for the help. . .

Not too sure as i did not do this, i know if the USC is in active military, or proof of a medical emergency, i know a few people have been sucessful in getting an expedite for financial hardship and USCIS error. Dont know much else.

Only those doing Electronic Processing will get a case complete email. As you didn't do EP, you won't be getting a case complete email. The next, and last, correspondence you'll be getting is from NVC with the interview package attached.
