My wife speaks excellent english, it was like their 1st language at home, she can also speak other indian languages, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada, some French. I never had any problem communicating at they spoke english at home, since i did some outsourcing work in India for a few years, i kinda get used to the accent, and I LOVE THE ACCENT, a little british accent due to colonization time. But when my wife got here, some words i wasn't used to

Queue= Get in line

when saying a number

Shaking the head sideways to aknowledge something or just to say YES

88= double 8

555= Triple 5

So many other other words at time I have to ask her what did you mean by that, in the beginning she know i was making a fuce, then she realized others were noticing also, It's mostly due to the fact Indian english is very much influenced by the time the british were there.

Try calling your call credit card, phone or satellite dish customer service you are sent straight to a call center, at time I have problem understand the reps on the phone.

But it comes to Globalization, I was in Las Vegas and there's a show call

VIVA LAS VEGAS, at the stratrosphere, and one of the COWBOY gentleman was saying

I am an AMERICAN COWBOY

my hat is from CHINA

my suit is from INDONESIA

my belt is from BRAZIL

my cowboys boot is MEXICO

when I call my AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD, I get a customer service from

INDIA

THIS IS AMERICA NOW!

My wife speaks English pretty well. The worse thing she does is mixing up him, her, he and she. Will start talking about a man and say she. Have to ask her who the hell are you talking about. LOL

These are the common problems for Filipino's.. haha.. I know, Im guilty of it too..

My fiance said my english is great but im still worried about it and scared to commit wrong grammar or something like that. I know he doesnt mind, maybe I just got used to (in my case, other Filipinos) who laughs at the mistakes of those "not so good in english" people.. (which is wrong!)

After we met, Carol could type english very well but when we began talking on the phone I had to really concentrate on what she was saying, but now she is very good but has an accent that I love very much! She gets right out there and goes for it! She got her job on the third try and it was the highest paying! She is simply incredible.

Sian speaks pretty acceptable English. You know how those limeys are, though....adding extra "u"s to words, using words and phrases that mean entirely different things here in the states, etc. I'll have her dumbed down to American English pretty soon, I reckon.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Marlene speaks excellent English. It's getting the Okie accent down that is difficult. I call her accent Marleokie.

Yes . . . same here. Must be a filipina thing. She also sometimes takes things very literally. Like when I told her once that I couldn't wait to see her. I had to explain that it was just an expression. She thought I meant I would truly not be able to wait. We were almost to tears on that one . . .

Well, of course Craig speaks fine English.

But I swear, almost everyday we stumble across a word we pronouce differently.

Decal.

Mobile.

Equator.

Z.

Not to mention the whole Rockets=Smarties, Smarties=M&Ms thing.

And don't even get me started on sticking "u" into perfectly fine words like color and neighbor.
