I guess there's no reason at all to buy a flight prior to visa. But it's odd that all flights are the same price now, whether 3 days out or 30. Perhaps it has something to do with oil prices.

A month or two ago the same flight was as low as $600. Now the fares are the same price as a round trip recently cost.

Is this some sort of mail-order-bride inflation???

This is what I learned about Travel Agencies and going to the Phils. If you got your qoate off Something Like Priceline, or many other Travel Agencies of a website and believe that qoate to be true. You are Dead Wrong. It is Only when you try to book a Flight that you will recieve the Real Price. That Could vary $500.00 or more. It is Switch and Bait". And yes, they get away with it. Fuel prices are going up but planing a trip ahead is good. But, remember, they are going to have all different prices for the same thing. (Get you there) The slowest Airfare and best Rates in the Phils are September, October, November. But, still book ahead and SHOP.

When I shopped the web they all said between $870.00 and $1,200.00. Then, when I booked in July, they all said : $ $1,400.00 to $2,300.00 even though their website read about $900.00. I eventaully got a Flight 3 weeks in advance for $ 1,340.00 Delta.

The thing is : It depends on the time of year you travel. DON'T BELIEVE WEBSITE QOATES. Call......

Also the more times you look for the same flight, the higher the price will go. The cookies will track each time you visit and search for SFO to MNL and vice versa. The more times you search, the more desperate for a flight they assume you are. I'm sure you are but be sure to look at the airlines site instead of using a travel site like priceline. The last few times I booked a flight the airlines site was cheaper

Plane ticket rate depends on your travel date, summer is peak season so the lower booking class are already fully booked maybe 2 months ago.

The main reason not to buy before VISA is the possibility of AP ... unless you book a First class ticket or one that can be refunded you might get stuck with a non-refundable that cannot be used. Spring and summer when school gets out is peak travel time so they do go up and up and up.

You might want to play around with other destinations... SFO is a pretty popular destination. Sounds crazy but sometimes booking a connecting flight past SFO might come out cheaper. Then just don't use the remaining connection? Usually first stop in the US they make you get your luggage off and go through customs before stateside connectors so losing luggage with this plan not an issue.

alternative fly somewhere else that might be cheaper and get regional jet into SFO if that is the final destination. You could meet there and drive home another option.

Good luck.
