Post interview limbo!!!

I am trying to get an input from anyone who could help me here. I talked about it a little bit in a case report forum.

We had our interview last week, on Thursday. Wasn't a horrible experience at all. On the contrary, it was much easier than I would have anticipated. Here is a quick review

We got there 15 min before the appointment time only to be seen at 9am instead of 830am. The IO swore us in and said " I apologize for taking you in late, I was trying to go over your file. I just wanted to let you know that we are going to proceed with the interview but I won't be able to make a decision today. You sent too much documentation and proof with your file and I didn't have time to sort through all of it"

After that she asked us the usual questions, the ones on the I130 and I485, how we met? how long we have known each other? the evolution of our relationship....

As she was about to conclude I asked her if she needed stuff like tax returns and other proof of financial co-mingling that we couldn't obtain before we filed, she took it and said she really didn't need more "proof" as we had sent a lot of docs already. Glanced at the pics and handed us the paper saying that she couldn't make a decision at the time but that we will hear from her if she heeded something more or when they make a decision will receive the welcome letter in the mail

She then proceeded to explain about how the ROC works, and said to pay attention to that. At time she would say if you get approved, and other times was just talking like we were approved

It has been a week yesterday and no words. No RFE ( not that i want any), no letter, it is almost as if nothing happened.

Is it too soon to start thinking about an info pass?

I have looked at other cases and usually when they can't make a decision right away they at least get some sort of communication within a couple of days or a week.

Anybody has been in a similar situation? I have heard of not enough proof but too much?

Any input?

I am about to update my timeline. Yes she explained the whole process of Removing Condition when the time comes and said we will see instruction on the welcome letter and to keep that letter because they won't send a reminder

We have had a very similar experience, although ours has been for a lot longer than yours.

We had our interview in August last year, the IO said pretty much the same but he kept telling us that we should be recieving the GC in 5-6 weeks "if all is OK", he was also running behind that day and was feeling under the weather.

6 weeks to the day we got an RFE for proof of continuing relationship, we sent more joint bills, affidavits from friends and family.

Still no response so we called uscis in Jan and spoke to a 2nd tier person, they submitted a service request which he said meant that we would either recieve a decision within 2 weeks or an explanation about when we would recieve a decision. 3 weeks later we got a letter stating that our case required further processing and that if we didn't hear anything within 6 months then we are to phone again....

Oh, and no updates at all on uscis internet site since Sept, not even to say we had or that they recieved the RFE.

we are in the same situation. we have to submit a reply by the 30th. our interview was on the 29th. we prepared everything but there is one area the IO need answers for. we are hoping&praying for an approval. as soon as I get all the facts I will post my interview experience and timeline. congrats to all who got approved. those who are continuing the journey like us lets stay strong.

Hey bbutterfly, just so you know that you should wait 30 days after your interview to make infopass because if they don't still have decision at that time, you will have to wait 3 months to have another infopass. I just received RFE after 10 days from my interview. So just wait to see anything coming until after 30 days. I'll be rooting for you.

Wow! that is a long time. I can't even imagine how stressful and confusing this can be. I really hope you hear something from them very soon

I am not very familiar with how this work, but I read often on this forum and other forums that you can get your congressman involved? Have you tried that? Or you think it is not time yet.

I also wonder if there is something to do to avoid getting to that point. Like someone suggested earlier calling them every week? Don't know if it would make a difference but it sure doesn't hurt to try

I didn't know the rule about having to wait 3 months after the first info pass to have another one . That tells me I will have to wait a little bit longer to get to that resort.

What really bothers me is that she didn't implied there was a problem, but yet we don't know where we stand. I know getting an RFE is not the best case scenario but at least you know someone looked back on your file after your interview and it is not just forgotten or something like that!!

Hopefully I will hear something before 30 days and not have to resort to the whole infopass deal!!

Please read the link above, it is my interview experience and it sounding very similar to mine. If you don't mind me asking was your interview in Los Angeles? Did you get a letter from the IO stating that within 30 days to file an info-pass and that a further adjudicative review is needed? My 30 days is coming up and I think I will be filing an info-pass soon hopefully I can get an appointment soon, my lawyer keeps telling me not worry but I can't help it. Anyways wishing you luck, hopefully both of us gets an answer soon.

Its been 3 nerve-wrecking weeks since my intereview. My officer did not say anything. He did not even ask any personal questions. I called last week and was told the same thing - to wait 30 days. But then someone recommended to do the Infopass, which I did last Friday. There I was told that a decision has not yet been made about my case. I don't know what this means. My officer also leaved through the papers when we interviewed as if it was the first time that he saw my application. He did not say so, but there were long moments of silence where he would just read and jump through different sections and ask random things that he just read about. At the infopass I asked when I can inquire again, and was told 90 days as well, but I don't think its a rule. The infopass is a service they offer and I don't think that there are limitations to using that service. There is simply a guy that looks in the computer and tells you the status. Its not a big deal. I think I could go back there every week if I wanted to. The thing is that the infopass does not do anything. They don't take any action by you showing up there. At least I don't think so.Its simply to receive a status update.I don't know whats next. I decided to wait a little longer and then I don't know what. Involve an attorney?

My goodness, this is horrible. I feel very sorry for you. How can they let you wait for so long without a notification or anything. You need to engage a lawyer or call a congressman. I may be in a similar boat soon, but waiting for that long is not OK. You filed a valid application and have sufficient evidence, they should not treat you that way. What is this waiting suppossed to do for them? You have to remove conditions anyway after 2 years, so why doubt the relationship now? Please keep me posted, I just don't think that is right how your case is being handled.

Although is a little comforting to know that there are others in the same boat, I have to say that it is sad that we are going through this, and even worse, that no one so far has figured out the formula, to handle this

My interview is not in LA, and I did not receive a letter stating that I could make an info pass after 30 days if I didn't hear from them. When my husband asked the IO how long it will take for us to have an answer she said, if after 180 days you haven't heard anything then try and contact us. But it shouldn't take me that long to get back to you, you will receive a decision or request for more documents, if something is missing very shortly in the mail

I remember reading your post when you first posted here. But to me the fact that you had sign the paper explaining the ROC and the IO took your I94, meant a done deal. I am surprised and so sorry that you are still going through this, especially given the fact that you filed so long ago. I really you hear back from them

The IO did not ask to see my passport, needless to say that I still have the I20. Din't ask for the marriage certificate, the EAD, none of the things they had listed on the Interview letter.

Let's see if this week brings some relief for some, if not all of us

In your case, you should at least give it another 2 weeks. I think 3 weeks is a general average time to wait. By then your card or at least the approval letter should be made and in the mail.

I never showed my passport either. The first thing he asked was for my I-94 card. He took it and wrote with RED pen on it. I am upset that I did not question him on that. He should have explained his actions. He did not say anything. At least your IO explained some things in detail.
