Hello All,

I'm a Singaporean student who graduated from Brown with a BA in International Relations last December.

A alumni immigration attorney told me last year that it was virtually impossible to successfully petition with a liberal arts degree in general/

I had given up on ever applying for H1-B until I asked usavisanow.com about it and they said I could easily apply for and get one, despite my degree. My position was originally 'Executive Assistant' but it has since been bumped up informally to Research Analyst as I was overqualified for the former.

I'm now pretty confused about my eligibility. Does usavisanow.com just want my fees even though my application stands little chance of success? It even says it's not too late to apply, though I heard that all availible H1B spots would be filled up by end of today.

All advice or opinion are welcomed! Thanks.

It is rather amusing that a Research Analyst asking such questions when a quick google would provide the answers.

It is up to your Employers Lawyer to process the paper work, so the chances of them being a scam are pretty high.

Your degree has to be relevant to your job and required by your job.

In the current economy I really find it hard to believe there will be any shortage of visa's. Last year they lasted about 10 months.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Believe me, I did Google these up. The thing is I have a Mintz lawyer telling me one thing and now another lawyer saying the exact opposite.

Are you saying usavisanow is a scam?

If they told you that you could apply for a H1b (as you stated above) then by definition the answer is yes.

Usavisa is just a service; they are not your employer, plain and simple. You will have to go with what your employer’s lawyer tells you.

As per my understanding to get an H1B with arts degree would be difficult, H1b is for highly skilled employee which includes professionals like Engineer, Doctors, research scientist etc.
