Today I had my interview, was scheduled for 1:15pm, I arrived at 1:00pm and waited until around 1:30 when the officer called me.

Went inside his office before seating he put me under oath, then asked me where was my husband and I told him he was with our dog at dogs beach (today was very hot and a gorgeous day!)

Then asked me if we were still living together and if everything between us was fine.

Asked what kind of dog we have and her name.

Confirm all my information and if somebody else was living at our house, if we rent or own.

Then went with all the questions on the form.

Started the civic test and he asked me:

1-what is the name if the national anthem?

2-what is the "rule of law"?

3-what is an amendment?

4-who does a U.S. senator represent?

5-How old citizens have to be to vote for President?

6-what is the ocean on the west coast?

7-why does the flag have 13 stripes?

I answered all of them correctly, not sure why he asked me 7...just noticed now!

Then he asked me to write:

"There are one hundred U.S. senators"

everything went fine!

He told me I was approved!

Then we talked a little very relaxed conversation about working for government etc...since I do want to do the same, he talked about the benefits, that I should consider, and mentioned tat he has been working there for 29 years and was able to raise a family very nicely.

well, everything was really good! could not be better!

he told me I should be receiving a letter for my oath soon.

Thank you God! thank you all!

I am very happy!!!!beautiful day!!!!!!

Much luck for all of you! everything is gonna be alright, believe, if our energies and acts are for good things, god things will happen to us!

Hi Guys! I've been a silent participant of this thread and finally my date is approaching. I have my interview date for my Naturalization (Based on 5 years LPR) set for August and the Notice asks me to take 'Any evidence of Selective Service Registration'. Also the Document Check List - N659 13. says If you did not register with the Selective Service and you are male, over 26, were born on or after Jan 1960 and were a Resident between the ages 18-26 when you failed to register, explain your failure to register and bring: A Status Information Letter from Selective Service.

- I became a Permanent Resident and entered the U.S when I was 27 years old, and therefore I do not think I was eligible for Selective Service Registration. Do I need to take a status information letter from selective service? Or what do I need to take for evidence that I was not eligible? Anyone been on the same situation?

Do I need to take a status information letter from selective service? Or what do I need to take for evidence that I was not eligible? Anyone been on the same situation?

You have several options as far as I know. The best option is for you to request a status information letter from the Selective Service (follow the instructions here http://www.sss.gov/Status.html). You just need to complete the form and submit evendence that you were not a resident of the US between the age of 18 and 26, I believe old passports showing entrance stamps are enough evidence. Now, I understand it can take up to 90 days for the Selective Service to turn around a status information letter so you will have to send the request as soon as possible.

Another option is to wait for your interview and if the question comes up just explain the office that you were not living in the US until you were 27 years old, and if he/she asks for evidence show your old passports showing that stamps with the dates when you entered the US. This is not as fool proof as actually having the status letter from the Selective Service, but in many cases it is enough.

A few other things to take into consideration, if you were born before January 1, 1960 you are not required to register and you don't need a status letter either, so just showing proof that you were born before that date should be enough during your interview (see here for more information about this -> http://www.sss.gov/men1960.html). Other consideration is, and I don't have any official reference for this other than a link to this site http://shusterman.co...iveservice.html , indicating that if you are older than 31 years old and you didn't register for selective service or if you don't have proof that you weren't required to register you won't be denied for Naturalization.

I was in a similar situation as yours and I didn't have a status letter from the Selective Service when I went for my interview, and the interview officer never asked me anything about that topic.

Hope this helps.

Simplest answer - as long as your date of becoming LPR is after your 26th birthday, then that is all the proof you need.

Received interview letter today for August 1! At this rate I guesstimate an Oath ceremony for November. Actually how cool would it be to get an oath ceremony on my birthday! born a British citizen and become a US citizen on the same date a few years apart. That might be kinda nice.

Hi everyone,

My name is Alice, I sent my application in April 23rd and I haven't received my IL yet. In the meantime, I would like to ask a question, I am currently still married and filed my n400 application as 5yrs instead of 3yrs. I am not sure if there is something wrong in here or not.

Please let me know your opinions/suggestions.

Congratulation for the end of your visa journey.

You can Apply for the us passport as soon as you get the certification. One of my friends got his citizenship oath ceremony in san diego downtown, as he was walking out of the building , he walked into a little officewhere you can apply for the passport right awa, I think he payed a $160 for the passport and passport card or ID .I think that he pucked them up within less than 24 hours. It is cheaper through the postal office but if you want it done quickly. You will pay a little extra. Just make sure to apply for the passport card along with the passport, otherwise you will have to pay an extra $60 in the futur if you want to apply just for the card.

Congratuulation again.

Have a little question for you

Did you receive an email that states that you your oath date was scheduled before you got the oath letter or not?
