Thats it. She said I was approved and gave the approval letter. All done in less than 15 min.

CONGRATULATIONS, RAJ! That was a breeze, wasn't it?

Congratulations!

I was feeling a bit despondent about seeming to have a slow process but this afternoon, I got four texts to say that we have now been given interview appointmenst and we can expect the interview letter within 14 days. I am assuming that our interview will be sometime around the end of July since most people seem to have one month between receipt of letter and actual interview and about 7 weeks between fingerprinting and interview. Can't wait to find out when it will be! Very excited and studying hard...

Oh wow! Finally ha? Keep us posted!

I am heading out to my interview, will report later !!

Don't forget to give us some updates and LOTS OF LUCK for you!

Soooo, it has been a week since I underwent and passed (citizenship) testing and interview. Today, I got an email notice letting me know that they approved my application, and that they place my application in the oath scheduling que. Once scheduled, they will mail me my appointment, which could be within 45 days upon receiving my recommended approval. YAY, YAY!:dance::dance:

On June 29, 2011, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled.

Moving along!

I just finished my interview here in San Jose. Arrived 15 min ahead of my appointment time; passed through security and dropped of the letter in the window. I was called in about 1/2 hr later (there was quite some crowd in the waiting area).

IO first had me take the "truth oath" then went through my N400 form and asked me a few questions like how many times have you been out of US since I got my GC, were there any trips longer than 6 mos, crime questions (have you ever been ... blah blah blah ).

Then she checked the passport to verify the dates of into/out from US that I had put in the N400.

Then asked me to read "Who is Abraham Lincoln" and write "Lincoln lead the nation during the civil war".

Asked me 6 q's:

1. What is the supreme law of the land

2. Longest rivers in US

3. Who inhabited US before the colonists arrived

4 Speaker of the house

5. what do we call the first 10 ammendments

6 President's term?

Thats it. She said I was approved and gave the approval letter. All done in less than 15 min.

Congratulations Raj!

Just came back home from Buffalo, NY from my interview. My wife and I arrived about 20 minutes before the appointment, went through security and headed to the "check in" window on the 1st floor, the lady told us to go to the second floor, we went to the second floor and signed in my name on the list and waited to be called. There were only three other people waiting and two more came after us, my name was called 10 minutes or so later.

When I heard my name I got up and my wife got up also, and she asked the officer if she could come in, the officer hesitated for a few seconds and then he said yes! But he told my wife she had to remain silent during the interview. We went into the officer's office, he had me take the oath to tell the truth and then he asked to see my resident card (he didn't asked for any other ID or any other document for that matter). He reviewed my card and then he asked me to sign a form related to changing my name.

Now he started going through my N400 application, not question by question, he only asked me to confirm my current address, if I had any other trips outside the US since filing the application, which I responded no. Then he went to the section about my wife's previous marriages, which I knew I had made a mistake completing that section, and the officer asked my wife, instead of me, to provide the correct name of her ex-husband. He corrected that section for me and then he went and asked a few of the Yes / No type questions, he only asked maybe 5 of them (if I've ever been a communist, if I've ever been associated with terrorists, if I've ever committed a crime but not been arrested for it and maybe one more question I cannot remember). At the end he completed the section about corrections made to the application and asked me to sign.

From here he went to the test part, and he asked me to write "Columbus day is in October", and he didn't asked me to read any sentences, instead he went directly to the civics/history questions.

I remember he asked:

1. Who did the US fight in World War II ? Germany, Italy and Japan

2. What's the capital of your New York state ? Albany

3. The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words? We the people

4. What is an amendment ? a change or addition to the Constitution

5. I don't remember if he asked me who signs bills to become laws? or who vetoes bills? but it was one of those two which I answered "The President"

6. What do we show loyalty to when we say the pledge of Allegiance? I answered "to the flag of the US", and the officer said "but we show loyalty to more than the flag right?" and I said "yes to the United States". Well, I guess he didn't think that was quite a correct enough answer and went ahead and asked me one more.

7. What is one promise you make when you become a US citizen ? to obey the laws of the US

and that was it for the test.

The officer said he approved and asked me if August 11th was a good day for the oath ceremony, which I replied yes. He said to wait a few minutes for my oath interview letter, he went outside his office for a couple of minutes. When he came back he gave me my interview results letter and my oath letter, and he explained how to complete the oath letter on the day of the oath.

And that was it, the whole thing only took 15 minutes or so.
