Can someone (or your wife who speaks VNese) explain to me what "An com truoc keng" mean? My wife told me to ask you all in here. Thanks in advance.

Mar 2009: Met online

May 2009: First trip to VN to see her

Aug 2009: Proposed

Sep 2009: Proposal accepted

Oct 2009: Affidavit of Single obtained

Dec 2009: Second trip to VN for marriage

Jan 2010: Married

Feb 2010: Filed CR1

Mar 2010: Third trip to VN

Apr 2010: Approval notice from USCIS

Jul 2010: IV & AOS fees paid

Feb 2011: Fourth trip to VN... our first anniversary

Apr 2011: Interview... asking for timeline, 10 year residency, ex's address, etc.

May 2011: Submission of requested documents. Pink!

Jun 2011: Fifth trip to VN to travel with her to the States.

Shes from VN.. :whistle: she should know...

The way Thuy worded it.. some things must remain unbroken until after the wedding... its considered an old custom / tradition and much like that of many religous people around the world including many in this forum...... Some countries are said to go so far as to check to make sure this policy has not been violated before the wedding by sending the woman to the Dr for medical proof...

A college Basketball player just got suspended for doing this and missed out on the college playoffs as a result... not that it can be checked to see if a guy did it... but he admitted it..

I'm gonna ask her when she's back from her business trip. Right now I think I have some idea what it means.

Just got off the phone with my fiance in VN. It means not sleeping together before marriage. It literally means "No eating before the bell" and is a fairly recent saying that came about after the the North takes over the South. The North Vietnamese soldiers used to be called to a meal by the cook hitting a piece of metal tied to a rope. "Keng" is the sound this makes.

You are right. An com truoc keng = premarital sex, khong an com truoc keng = no premarital sex.
