Hi all Again :)

I was thinking of taking my medical records when I move to America, but I saw the receptionist and she told me they belong to the NHS so I cannot take them. Do I need them to register with a health center in America or not. Has anyone had this problem.

Thanks in anticipation

Dave :)

Moving to UK forum. Not a topic about filing an I-129F for a visa.

Never bothered with my wife's records when she moved to USA, simply went to family Doctor, and she has a physical check-up to establish a new record with the doctor.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You can't take the original records with you, but you can take copies, at a cost - I think my doctor's surgery charges £10 for a print-out of the computer-only information, and £50 for copies of everything including the old hand-written stuff.

I reckon it'll be a case of getting them faxed over if theyre really needed. I went to request mine the other day, and my doc didnt seem to have a clue, and the receptionist was horribly rude and seemed to imply i couldnt even look at my own medical records!

Ill let you know if i manage to get them off them though!

I found a few "key terms" im gonna throw at them to try and get them from the NHS website

Figure if i start saying "Data Protection Act" and "Subject Access Request (SAR)" I might win them over!
