Probably a silly question. We have our NVC case number. She took her medical and got the result. We are waiting for the police certificate scheduled for April 12.

Can we schedule the visa appointment now while we wait to finish everything?

I really really want to be at Tokyo when the interview happens but my schedule is very tight.

I thought I was supposed to wait until I receive my packet, and when I did receive it yesterday and tried to schedule an interview, I was kind of wondering about that, too. I think you can try once the embassy log your case into their system, as you will be providing your TKY number when you ask them for an appointment.

You can call DOS to see if they already received your case. (more than 2000 yen per inquiry sounds so ridiculous to me... calling DOS and get a human is much faster, accurate, and free!)

I might be wrong, so think of my post just as an idea!

(I even filled out a wrong form, to tell you the truth... how embarrassing! tehehe)

Keep us informed about your interview date.

I really want to get a good idea of how quickly an interview can be scheduled after the NOA2 date, which I thankfully received yesterday.

I need to know how soon I need to start making arrangements for bringing Kazue here.

I assume you can make a medical appointment before you receive your packet 3, tell the clinic that you have CIS receipt number and give it to them:)

To make an interview appointment, the consulate needs NVC case number and it needs to be logged into their system, and they do that when they receive your case from NVC. You can call DOS to see if the embassy has already received your case or not;)

I am assuming that they are referring to the case number that is, or will be assigned to you by the NVC.

This case number is different from the receipt number given to you by the USCIS.

You can call the NVC to get the case number before the packet 3 is sent out as long as they have already entered it into their system.

thank you for the quick reply. i asked my fiance about the case number and said its on NOA2. so with it, i just made an appointment for medical exam yesterday. thanks again!!

Just to clarify, the case number is not on the NOA2 but rather on the letter from NVC. The NOA2 includes the original receipt number only.

However, you do not need the case number to do the medical exam. You do need the case number for the police certificate though. :)

Hi neko,

What number at the DOS are you talking about? I wish I knew about that earlier. I ended up paying the 2000yen because I needed some questions answered and I don't feel like paying another 2000yen.

Thanks!
